...What was the character of Gaga trying to do ending up in that situation? Was she trying to k*ll herself or just an accident? And how does it relate to psychosis with those visuals?

I'm still trying to comprehend the concept to this day. Please enlighten me. :koons:  Thank you.

911 the song is mostly about Gaga’s experience with anti-psychotic medication (namely Olanzapine) she used after her psychotic break she was hospitalized for in 2017, when she cancelled her performance for Rock In Rio after having a psychotic break and a severe fibromyalgia flare-up due to a deposition for the Kesha lawsuit, because it brought back triggering memories for her. This is also why the European leg of the JWT in 2017 was postponed as well, and she went to that treatment center in Portland for a month.

In the 911 video, the symbolisms of how she perceives the people around her in most of the video with the historic aesthetics is revealed to be different to the ending of the video where it’s revealed it was all actually an illusion and a direct result of her being on anti-psychotic medication severely impacting her perception of the world around her. At one point at the end of the video, the doctor and the paramedic ask her ‘did you take any medication?’, which judging by her historical perception of everything previously in the video not matching up with the actual setting she’s in (a street in a modern, urban area) and her needing to be brought back to life with a defibrillator indicates she likely took too much of the anti-psychotic medication before going somewhere on her bike, which is really dangerous and led to the accident in which she ended up disassociating right after it.

Whether it’s a suicide attempt is not clear, it could be. But Gaga’s character seems sincerely apologetic, surprised and horrified about everything when she’s brought back to life, which makes me think it was an accident.

i think it's purposely open to interpretation but I choose to believe she intentionally overdosed on her medication and rode her bicycle into traffic, based on her panicked realisation that she actually doesn't wanna die

mother, what must i do?

It’s unclear whether the accident was referencing something that actually happened to her or not but I think it’s unlikely; I think she’s using the scenario like a car accident to represent what she was feeling when she “crashed” and became confused by what was reality and what was in her head during her episode of psychosis.

Sneaky Oliver

I don’t think it was a suicide attempt because she was worried about people getting hurt and stuff like that. I think she either took too many pills or didn’t take them at all and ended up having a panic attack leading up to the car accident

Thank you for the replies. I don't have experience with psychosis. Your comments helped a lot and made me appreciate the music video more.

Feel free to post more comments though.
