Gov. Tim Walz Calls For Democrats To Be A Little Meaner

Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz shared some stark words for Democrats on Saturday, calling for his fellow party members to "be a little meaner" in the pushback against President Donald Trump.

“It’s because he is,” Walz said at the South Carolina Democratic Party Convention, addressing why he called Trump a “wannabe dictator.” Walz ran as the Democratic Vice Presidential nominee with then-Presidential candidate Kamala Harris against Trump and Vice President J.D. Vance in 2024. The former public school teacher was initially praised during the election for his relatability and Midwestern appeal.

“‘Oh, the Governor’s being mean,’ well, maybe it’s time for us to be a little meaner, maybe it’s time for us to be a little more fierce,” Walz said. “We have to ferociously push back on this…the thing that bothers a teacher more than anything is to watch a bully.”

When the bully is a child, you teach them why bullying is wrong, Walz explained, but when the “bully is an adult like Donald Trump, you bully… him back.”

“At heart, this is a weak, cruel man,” Walz said of Trump.

Walz’s comments come amid wider efforts among the Democratic Party to step toe-to-toe with Trump’s far-reaching and sweeping changes at the federal government, which have seen him attempt to flex his executive power in unprecedented ways.

Imo the biggest reason Dems struggle with younger voters, aside from how apathetic they are, is 'cause the choices are often seen as "evil Republicans or cowardly Democrats"

We don't need politicians to lecture us on how Trump is bad because of this law that leads to this economic problem and these institutions of democracy get damaged and with enough time blah blah blah

Most Corporate democrats just pertend on the surface to fight for the average American when deep inside they dont really wanna raise taxes for the rich cuz that often also means themselves...

 

So offering little resistance when they are in opppsition, and folding to a lot of compromise to Republicans when they are in power is how they do it

Ironically i used to hate them more before eapecially Anna cuz I thought they were too extreme (when I was more Centrist) and now that im more left i agree with them on more stuff 

 

I get what ur saying tho and sometimes they come across a bit too high mighty and self righteous which I dont like

 

But they do make some points i think including about Democrats not fighting as hard as Republicans do due to probably being contaminated woth conflicting interests from Corporate donors

 

I do notice Democrats consistently compromise when their in power yet barely seem to fight when they arent in power. Its almost like the party as a whole doesnt truly really want to...

We were not in a situation where we could afford to be picky. A no vote, or a write in/3rd party vote is a vote for trump Lmao 

So many just didn't vote and that's why he won.

I don't think it's that they don't want to, they're just stuck in their ways. They're all crypt keepers from a bygone era of political compromise where reaching across the aisle was a real thing. Or at least it seemed to be.

But the right has caved to it's worst side and the left has fractured between politicians who say "can't we just work together?" and voters who say "those people say I don't even have a right to exist, no we can't work together???"
