Joanne :bear:
It's just not my thing but I appreciate the somberness of the 2nd half and could jam to the energetic ones.
Now, angel down, work tape specifically is SOOO breaking. Not only the message but the way she sings oh. my. god. I'd still put it in like B tier compared to the rest of the discography but it's the same feeling I get from happy mistake which is ballad perfection (we all agree to this).
Funny how much I love this work tape and then there's Million reasons' which is just.... :oohrightthereyeah:

Last week I listened to her whole discography and my ranking didn't change that much from the one I did when MAYHEM was released :ladyhaha: but I appreciate Chromatica more now, I listened to it a lot these past few years but after MAYHEM I started disliking it a little bit lol

For me it's:

MAYHEM > Harlequin > Born This Way > The Fame Monster > ARTPOP > The Fame > Chromatica > Joanne > A Star Is Born > Cheek To Cheek > Love For Sale

If we talk strictly about studio albums, it would be Joanne but I still love that album. As a whole, I like some LFS songs more than C2C's but overall I like C2C a little bit more

EDIT: Now that I'm thinking a bit more about it, I might like Joanne more than Chromatica :icant: I feel Chromatica lacked something, especially after listening to MAYHEM. Bloodpop watered it down so much :selena: I keep thinking about what it could've been if they wanted it to go experimental with the album, it would've been in the top for me. I wish Gaga was more involved in the production for that album

Chromatica.

911 is top tier. I wish she would have incorporated seamless transitions in her other work like she did with Chromatica. The concept of tribes and chromatica being a whole universe of its own and how it correlates with trauma and ptsd is probably her best idea yet.

ARTPOP.

The concept of bringing art to the front using pop culture was a great idea

The Fame.

She kicked the doors of pop music with that debut album and the iconic songs Just Dance, Poker Face, Lovegame and Paparazzi will always remain as one great streak of singles that put her where she is.

The good thing about this is that it only got better after this. She wasn’t just a one album wonder and continued to outdo herself. I listened to The Fame non stop during that year and even the album cuts Paper Gangsta and Again Again are usually on my playlist but rarely listen to the rest of it now. Songs like Summerboy never grew on me. Boys, Money Honey, I Like It Rough and The Fame are meh to me right now. Eh Eh, Starstruck and Beautiful Dirty Rich are fun sometimes.

Edit. Nvm I’m listening to The Fame right now and Joanne is my least favorite today.

honestly, I can only say Chromatica because of how underwhelmed I was with the production of very few tracks, specially Free Woman, which became a tampon ad jingle in comparison to the original demo 90s club banger. Also it gets to a point where you're like "oh here we go, another upbeat edm track". But it also has many dear favorite songs there. What they did with Babylon once the Bowie sample was scrapped was surgically gold.

And that's for not releasing the SOPHIE tracks.

for the one's unappreciating Joanne, I'm so sorry you'll never be able to vibe to Sinner's Prayer bassline like I do. That is a religious experience for REAL.
