it's almost as vague as ARTPOP.

Gurl she literally explains what ARTPOP is in the title track and explains it in various interviews

God forbid your confronted with smth that doesn't give u an immediately clear surface level reading

God forbid I don’t agree with your opinion. Many would agree the interviews don’t support the actual finished project.

I was joking too! My issue with ARTPOP is that every track is a different theme. It sounds like a really fierce RuPaul album to me, with no cohesion whatsoever. What is it about? Art? Sex? Drugs? Astronomy? Goddesses? Love? Cosmetics? Fury? Fashion? Performance?

It's a mess for me.

And that’s why I love it so much

I would call the album 911, Replay, Free Woman, anything else...

If you would call the album the same as a track title's, it's obvious you're not getting the amazing takes people are giving in here

Really? ARTPOP has always had a cohesiveness in my mind and it's tracklisted perfectly

Aura is about identity and performance

Venus is about performance and sex

G.U.Y. is about identity and sex

Sexxx Dreams is about sex and desire

Jewels n' Drugs is about identity and being genuine

MANiCURE is about sex and being not genuine (in a cheeky way)

Do What U Want is about autonomy and identity

ARTPOP is the swan song to carry the emotion of the whole album, while all 15 tracks travel to absurd places it maintains a playful nature while being completely serious

Swine is about rage and pain

Donatella is a caricature of glitz and glamor (which feels almost like an intentional "in denial" statement after Swine)

Fashion! is about identity and performance

Mary Jane Holland is about identity, pain, and coping

Dope is about pain and healing

Gypsy is about love and healing

Applause is the bow at the end of the show, also about identity and her love of performing

How is that not cohesive :enigma: you could argue that it's sonically a little jarring to go from a trap beat to a rock song to an R&B song to a trancy song to a heavy EDM song etc but the themes flow and mesh perfectly if you ask me

💔thought we'd last a lifetime when I'm mumbling alone💔

We hold Gaga to a high standard because is the best. Her first three albums were extremely cohesive with appropriate titles that highlighted the overall theme of these works. She is more than just a pop singer, she is an artist. It makes sense that we would analyze her works deeply. It's part of being a passionate fan.

The albums you mention have very simple titles. Simple = easy to project your own interpretations onto. Chromatica is a highly specific, made up word that she bestowed upon this album. Why wouldn't we want to understand it more deeply?

Sounds like she may be a bit over your head now then bestie :glamourpuss:

Everyone has explained it over and over and it’s still not clicking

Well it doesn't matter what others say it's HER project to give meaning to so who are we to say they don't align :iamfair:
