I actually love the album but I hate the title because I have no idea what it is or what it means. The concept is so weakly developed, it's almost as vague as ARTPOP. I wish it had been called something else. What is Chromatica and what does it mean?

IMO, I think Gaga felt so disconnected from her persona and the way she used to create that she had to create a concept to reverse engineer her understanding of what she used to do. So Chromatica is a meta concept she used (both a reference to the chromatic scale in music and the chromatic color scale) as a way of reintroducing and reintegrating the idea that she could use fantasy through visuals and music to tell her story again.

I think, to some degree, it was just a way of recreating a safe space where she could create from that vantage point without fear of judgement because I think she felt pretty traumatized from the more fantastic/surreal elements of her work being both misunderstood in the past and also having served as a vehicle for some of her more self-destructive inclinations.

I actually think it's one of her stronger album titles, It’s stricking and it sticks. Anyone who hears the word would be curious to hear what its music and visuals sound and look like and everything post stupid love did not disappoint at all. Even the album cover is one of the best ive ever seen and im not exaggerating.

Then you're completely dense.

That comment is the most elaborative and related to the concept of the album... :triggered:.

Each color for a tribe she was going on. And if it's true that it means the inclusion of all 12 tones, then Sine From Above has a lot more sense, so tie the points together and realize it's a journey and escapism from pain and trauma trough colors and music.

You are rude. I can Google what the word means, I think the concept for the album is totally undeveloped and vague. All of her albums have been journeys and escapism, not sure how you're connecting trauma to the word Chromatica, colors, or tribes, which she dropped like a hot potato.

Maybe I'm just dense. :partysick:

It is an interesting title, I just don't think there is much to it.

I always thought it was a play on Metallica.

Metal/metallic

Chrome/chromatic

Everyday I remind myself how robbed we were of a proper Chromatica era and I get sad.

Chromatica was the fantasy "happy place" Gaga went to in her mind when she was in a deeply depressed state

I think many of the songs on the album are all just different expressions of that and how she coped with it

But many of the songs on Chromatica aren't happy at all, they're extremely dark. There are some "fierce" tracks like Babylon and Free Woman but it doesn't feel like an escape to me, it feels like a confrontation of her demons.

And I was one of them, but unlike you, I actually put in the work to write something instead of being snarky for no reason. We are not the same :vegas:
