Post updates for domestic and international grosses, financial analysis, reviews, and share what movies you will be watching! Basics to engage in discussion: Spoiler 1. The US is the largest market for films distributed in most of the world. When "domestic" numbers are discussed, US numbers are referenced. 2. A general rule is films need to earn 2.5X their budget to break even and become profitable. Example: Movie X cost $10M to make. It needs to make $25M globally to break even/start generating profit. This rule is not absolute but is an estimate that is inferred when discussing film earnings. Why? Well, marketing expenses and distribution fees are usually not included in the reported budget for a movie. 3.
