Playoff game exact dates are not known that far in advance.  Depending on how early the tours were scheduled, the host team may not even have known if they would be in the playoff.  Exact playoff dates past the first round especially, are not known in advance because they depend on the results from round one and forward.

So basically the venues are booking the concerts, in hopes, that an NBA playoff date will not conflict.  But in the end, if a conflict arises, the arena's number one priority will always be the home NBA team.  And I'm pretty sure the NBA schedule is pretty rigid, so I doubt they would schedule around a concert.

Also, I would assume, it's not always feasible to reschedule a tour date too close to the date, due to conflicting priorities.

When I worked for an arena, the teams owned the arena, so if they were in playoffs or the game was a big one they would always come first and other concerts or events would have to be postponed.
 

You can’t make a schedule ahead of time because sports are not scripted. So if a team makes it onto the next round, the events are added last minute.

Ban sports. A whole arena full of people concerned about what happens to a ball or whether or not it goes through a net is neanderthal behavior. Evolved human beings want to see Katy Perry float around on a butterfly to Roar.

these kinds of conflicts are always so wild to me. like i understand why it happens but imagine it the other way around, a game getting postponed/cancelled for a pop concert? the meltdowns from grown straight men

I love how ppl are criticizing the stadiums and arenas management which are made FOR the games as if they were made for concerts instead 

at the end of the day, the concerts are just a convenient way for them to make more money so keep in mind that the priority will always be the games and stuff.

Another Denver monster here who was also pretty miffed about my Kylie tickets.  This time she tours around the US and Denver of all places?  Bummed the venue did this - sorry to hear it's happening to Katy fans.

(Also, not my stoner dumbass thinking Gaga would stop here for Mayhem ).  

Making me miss Chicago and midwest concert opportunities a bit!

This literally just happened to Kylie Minogue. in Denver this year too! She had to cancel her concert for a game. It’s such a crap policy.
