Trump signs order to lower pharmaceutical prices

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trumpon Monday signed a sweeping executive order setting a 30-day deadline for drugmakers to lower the cost of prescription drugs in the U.S. or face new limits over what the government will pay. 

The order calls on the health department, led by Robert F. Kennedy Jr., to broker new price tags for drugs. If a deal is not reached, a new rule will kick in that will tie the price of what the U.S. pays for medications to lower prices paid by other countries. 

“We’re going to equalize,” Trump said during a Monday morning press conference. “We’re all going to pay the same. We’re going to pay what Europe pays.” 

It’s unclear what — if any — impact the Republican president’s executive order will have on millions of Americans who have private health insurance. The federal government has the most power to shape the price it pays for drugs covered by Medicare and Medicaid.

Will he threats to rather buy it from foreign companies then?.. I guess having to import will make it more expensive but if it's way cheaper to begin with maybe it's worth it idk.

I'm scared it will just live to shortage of certain drugs without replacement option.

They’re just manufacturing a positive headline. And, believe me, Americans eat this **** up. They’ve done this before… making it seem like they’ve lowered drug prices when technically it’s an unenforceable order. 
 

It’s just like the stock market. They’re having a party even though there’s still a 30% tariff and there’s no certainty of a clear trade policy or agreement. It’s clown ****.
