The Trump administration's ban on transgender troops in the military can go into effect after the Supreme Court on Tuesday ruled enforcement could start.

The big picture: The emergency rulinggreen lights the ban, which is part of President Trump's wider attacks on transgender people, while challenges to it move forward in courts. 

The court's three liberal justices, Sonia Sotomayor, Elena Kagan and Ketanji Brown Jackson, dissented.

My question is: what happens to trans people that are already in the military and most likely have devoted their whole life to it? They'll get discharged and forced to star elsewhere from scratch?

well I can’t imagine why any trans person would want to fight for this shameful country anyways.
However, it should not be this way, of course. Trans people deserve to live in a country where they are respected and treated as equal. They deserve to feel as though they would be proud to fight for their country- as any human should for that matter.
