Everyone Who Dragged Gaga During Her SXSW Set Deserves Jail!!!!!

So I recently found this YouTuber, who is a straight man who is discovering Lady Gaga and his most latest upload is him watching SXSW 2014 performance and well…

(let’s just say when he got to the swine performance for a guy who says he had a strong stomach. He was not showing it.)

and it got me thinking on what were the reactions to little monsters when they viewed this performance in real time (especially the swine performance) so curious curiosity got the best of me and I googled and found the live thread of everyone reacting to this performance

So as I’m looking through this thread, I realized how f**ked you guys were treating her (now I understand everybody in here now wasn’t there at that time but there’s a few of you that have stuck around shockingly) and it’s just completely mind-boggling. The comments that I saw that were being said about her and I think now as we are in 2025 and we are witnessing a peak from her. I think everyone in here whoever said a mean thing about her during the 2012 to 2014 time period needs to stand up and say they’re sorry. 
 

I’ll admit at first it was funny looking at these comments but further investigation. It just made me so sad and quite frankly angry because I know as well as everyone else here does how much she put on the line to create ARTPOP how many people just acted like it was garbage or acted like it did not matter (I understand that everyone is entitled to their own opinions, but the way that you’ll drag that was completely forced and uncalled for) 

 

and it’s even funnier in hindsight because you know, as you’re gonna see, everyone was saying that it was embarrassing that Lady Gaga was a drunk and that she completely has lost touch with reality so to think to help all that she went out of her way to make two jazz projects, Joanne, A Star Is Born, Ect and monsters had the audacity to say we want weird gaga back like i don’t freaking understand what y’all expected from her

 

anyway, it’s probably the moment you’ve all been waiting for here is all the comments that I saw regarding Lady Gaga. The majority of them are from the swine performance, especially but it just kind of gives you a general sense on what was going on and how rude monsters were to her at that point in time.

I still don't understand how it bothers people so much  it's literally just milk that's been in Millie's stomach for like ten seconds max. It's not "vomit". She's practically just pouring milk on Gaga in a creative way  

Regardless, this REMAINS my favorite Gaga performance.

I was a huge fan of Gaga back then but I wasn’t on these forums yet. So I had no clue what the reactions from fans were. During that time I was extremely rebellious. I loved punk music and a big reason why I started to like Gaga is because she mixed punk and goth imagery with a message saying it’s okay to be gay (which I needed at the time). I also think she was fighting against being a “pop star” and her record label and just so much of her trauma resurfacing through ARTPOP. So from my perspective I loved it because I loved how rebellious she was and getting all her rage out and I loved the idea of her freaking people out. I know she was probably wasn’t in her right mind but I wasn’t either lol. 
 

with that said I grew up and out of it the same time Gaga did. I know she probably wouldn’t do anything like that now but at the time I wasn’t as offended because her whole thing was to push boundaries and shock people. The person was an artist and fit into the ARTPOP theme at the time but of course she pushed it as far as she could with the intention of shocking people. She had an interlude for one of her tours with the same thing. It just was done live and people were shocked.

The only part of this performance I wans't the biggest fan of, were the vocals, they were not up to her standard at the time. 

I also cringed at everyone on LM.com doing glittery "vomit looks", but that's not on the performance itself

The whole ARTPOP thing was a huge nerve wrecking for the real fans. It was so heartbreaking seeing her being dragged to the pits at that time.
We know she’s very dedicated and passionate with her thing but I can’t even imagine how she was capable to deal with all that and still managed to carry all the era until last minute. 

It bothers me so much the fact that after all these years, a big part of the crowd who manage to keep the lines busy for tour tickets aren’t even fans who really stood up for her during the hardest times.

i didn't like it because to me it just felt extremely try hard and just to do something shocking at the time, it didn't feel done in her usual artistic way (as obviously it's the same thing we saw in one of the many iconic TMB interludes)

there was just a lot of things around that time i felt were purely being done for shock value and shock value only which i hated because it wasn't what i loved her for

ngl  also im not hating because still, slay, just at the time i remember it felt disingenuous to me

Loved the vomit performance when it was an interlude at the Monster Ball, and thought it was cool, grungy and twisted to see it as part of a live performance. Never thought it was 'going too far', not unless you have really weak sensibilities.

so i was a huge fan but i didn’t go on forums, i stayed mostly on Twitter and Tumblr. i remember not being a big fan of this performance. i was 15 i think and i guess it just disturbed me a tiny bit which none of her previous performances had ever done. but i was admittedly a pretty sheltered teen lol.

however, i didn’t think any less of her, i wasn’t disgusted, i didn’t post any hateful comments… i just was a little grossed out, that’s all. no big deal. and i bet if i were to watch it now it wouldn’t bother me as much

She was definitely mid-crisis which made her more reckless but I feel that makes it all more honest rather than done for shock value. Less of "I'll get puked on, that'll get 'em talking" and more of "man, f*ck it, come puke on me!"

It was such a time to be alive I remember also melting down in my personal life at the same time and feeling comforted knowing Gaga was also losing her sh*t
