I've noticed this too, and it seems like revisionist history. It was mega successful, a pop culture moment, a long era due in part to its staying power, and the music was mostly really good. Even though it came out when the world shut down, it reminds me so much of the happy moments we were able to find in that time period, and I hope Gaga is/remains proud of it.

I don't know about others but I've been vocal about my Chromatica hate since day 1 :vegas:

Chromatica is great and I listen to it with no skips from start to finish. Heard Rain On Me a few weeks ago at the flower mall and it still made me want to dance. The first time I heard and saw the Babylon/Free Woman section of TCB I felt like I was ascending to heaven.

It’s common practice for some “fans” to hate on whatever she released right before when she releases something new. Later they always return to “it didn’t deserve the hate”.

No it couldn't. This music is generic and uninspired, and anyone could release most of the songs. I love Replay, Alice, and some others, but you know - I love a lot of generic uninspired music.

IMO it’s the production. It’s very clean, but lacks edge + grit + texture. I was honestly thinking about how much it would slap if Cirkut, Gessafelstein, and BURNS got together and reworked Chromatica 👀

Even though I agree. I wish some mayhem songs were also as clean as chromatics production

91i think the only reason people say there is "less soul" or whatever is because they heard gaga say she had to be dragged to the studio.... i don't like that.

idk. I loved Chromatica because it has a very unique feel.

It's house, but it's clearly the type of house they make in space... it's on point for me, a very special planet.

she also has a lot of very high point.... Alice, 911, replay....

No. Less than 3min songs with one verse, and choruses based on "drops" that do not hit hard or do anything, tossed between multiple producers like a twink on an orgy - how can there be soul in it... The fact that Gaga said what she said is just a good excuse for this mess, because if she put her everything in it and it came out like this, I would say that "Gaga is over".

yeah right, let‘s just ignore the visuals, the interludes, the transition from chromatica II to 911 or the music video to 911 (one of her best mvs for sure!).

Not her best album, but it sure as hell got me through the pandemic!

I don’t speak your americano.

It’s a very nice album, its her most cohesive and the cleanest sounding one. Of course this kind of sound is not for everyone (I also prefer her messier records).

The biggest problem in chromatica for me is the lack of chorus in some songs and the basic production in some others. I never understood the love for free woman when there is literally just an instrumental chrous and it sounds like a 2015 tropical song.

I do think it has some of her worst or most basic songs (free woman, fun tonight, 1000 doves…) But it also has some standouts (alice, 911, replay, sine from above…)

Overall I enjoy it more than joanne because joanne wasnt really my thing, but after that chromatica would be my least favorite

The only problem I had and still have today with Chromatica was/is that the album sound is too polished, too perfect. It lacks real instruments and the vibe Mayhem/BTW/Joanne have. Not to mention the themes, dark and depressing. But the thing I hate the most is unused demo for Free Woman. That being said, album version becomes a filler and a skip for me.

My biggest enemy is me.
