Gaga's Taste in Music

Which artists and bands do we know Gaga likes to listen to?  I always like when we hear music in the background of her social media posts and I get curious as to what her personal taste is.

We know she loooves classic Dad rock and she's spoken very fondly about Beck in particular. On the Sirius radio thing she talked about daddy Trent Reznor, Rilo Kiley (slay), No Doubt, Green Day, George Michael, and then obviously Prince, Madonna, The Cure, MJ, Queen, and Bowie. I seem to recall her praising Fetch the Bolt Cutters at some point too because talent always wins.   

Jazz standards and the Great Amerikkkan Songbook are banned from this discussion. I just want the good stuff

I think some of the disconnect between the mainstream pop Gaga fans and Gaga herself comes from the fact that she probably does not listen to contemporary pop music. I'm sure she has listened to the music of her peers out of respect for their artistry, but I've always doubted she actually listens to the pop girlies in her free time and is just being polite lol

I believe many of these are still accurate, even though she wrote this list when she was +/- 20

This. Many of the names she outright drops as influences can be generally placed into the canon of the “greats” of their respective genres/eras, but the modern young pop listener doesn’t tend to go back and study what led to the music they listen to now. And Gaga has a lot of deep cut artists (not just musical6 as references too. She really said it best when she referred to herself as a “student of music.”

My read on Gaga is that her current state of mind is that she only cares about herself.  I don't think she spends time investing her energy in anyone else's creative work.  

I realize it's shade to say it, but it's completely how I view her right now.

I didn't actually because everything I see her in lately comes across as phony to me.  

 

But she's always prepared for interviews and questions.  Her brand is being kind and a true artist.

I just googled to see who the opening act is for the mayhem ball.  

If Gaga cared about other artists she has a huge opportunity to make a career. 

Chromatica had no opener. 

GGD announced Rita Ora would open mayhem.  But as I read the post, I found out it was an April fools joke.

The evidence Gaga cares only about herself is kind of everywhere.
