Still gross and disappointing, but it's not as depressing as it sounds when you see he won almost 50% of the votes This is my Hannah Montana™️ lipgloss. You never have everyone vote U can presume non voters will make up both sides of the political spectrum so the real number isnt gonna be just 32% lets be real At the end of the day a little over 50% of ppl who showed up to vote voted for him and thats the main thing u can judge off of But I think it doesnt matter anyway quibbling over what the exact number of Trump supporters is, whether its 50%, 45% or even just 40% (tho i dont think it was that low) The point is ud never get a number this high in the overwhelming majority of other developed Nations (with the exeption of one or two other messed up Nations politically) and a guy like this would never get elected once nevermind twice The exact percentage of ppl who support Trump is a technicality ur aurguing that I think doesnt even matter. He got elected into office (Twice). To me that says something about America as a whole i know it isnt even close to everyone, but not everyone is true in any democracy... But it is America as a whole now and enough ppl made it that way for it to politically become this way

But it is America as a whole now and enough ppl made it that way for it to politically become this way No, you can’t presume non-voters’ attitudes reflect those of those who voted lol. Things like the Electoral College and the way it incentivizes partisanship disincentivizes non-partisans participating in elections, which invariably skews the results of elections in favor of folks that identify as either Democrats or Republicans when the largest voting bloc in the US is actually individuals that identify as independent. Not to mention that, if we’re being technical, Trump has actually never even secured 50% of the electorate who showed up in either election he won (he got 46% in 2016 and 49% in 2024). What’s more, if you actually break down voters attitudes towards his policies, in 2024, Trump won voters who self-report as “not following the news” by double digits (between 18-20%) and many who voted for him have essentially admitted that they either 1.) didn’t know the overwhelming majority of his platform and 2.) didn’t believe he would do the worst things he promised to do, so even if we were to (wrongfully) graft the attitudes of the electorate who voted in both elections onto the general population, you probably would only be able to find roughly 30-35% of people who’d be willing to go to bat for the overwhelming majority of the **** he’s doing right now. What him being elected says about America is that A.) we have an antiquated electoral system that incentivizes partisanship at the expense of true democracy and B.) there are many (not a majority, but a decisive number based on current voting attitudes) who are either heavily swayed by propaganda and/or vote out of a degree of ignorance. It, however, does not say that even 40% of people wholeheartedly support Trump. We have forgotten our public MANNERS

It, however, does not say that even 40% of people wholeheartedly support Trump. I dont find the argument of not knowing his entire platform or not believing hed do everything he said hed do to be a particular strong argument. To me thats still ignorance just the same which is typical in most democracies but I feel like in most Countries even a superficial uneducated person on his platform would see enough crazy rehtoric and not vote for him As for what u said about partizenship and voting, I can agree its not nevecessairily gonna be the exact same ratio as those who voted but its not gonna be 0 either. So if 32% voted for him, non voting supporters have got to be AT LEAST a few more percentage points on top of that even being ultra conservative. Even if twice as many non voters were Democrat that would still put Trump supporters near 40% I take ur point most Americans may not approve of all his policies. But im trying to make the point in most other civilized developed Nations he still wouldnt have been elected in the first place And even if ur not aware of his entire platform or think hed do everything hes done... he showed enough evil And stupidity even at a superficial level that the fact that enough ppl voted him into office i find highly concerning. Anyone with half a brain only has to listen to him for 5 minutes to realize hes a total lunitic so i dont accept ignorance or superficial knowledge of his policies as a defence for voting for him as a Nation

Thats not new or unique to America But it still says something about the political landscape and electorate of America Besides, I find it hard to believe ALL Trump supporters voted. Im sure theres additional supporters who didnt vote. It cant be only non supporters or democrats who didnt vote. Even if its disproportionately non Trump supporters who didnt vote, im sure its still a few million additional people
