Lady Gaga earns biggest albums chart opening since 2013 in the UK

Lady Gaga has debuted at No.1 with Mayhem (Polydor), her sixth chart-topper.

Mayhem opened at the summit with 55,577 units (20,937 CDs, 13,339 vinyl albums, 1,883 cassettes, 2,463 digital downloads and 16,955 sales-equivalent streams), according to the Official Charts Company.

The album has secured the second fastest opening of the year so far – only fellow Polydor act Sam Fender has achieved a bigger week one result.

I hoped it would do better than Chromatica's opening week but to have it be the best since AP, well, it couldn't do any better than that seeing as BTW was the album before that and sold over 215k here the first week, a feat unlikely to ever be achieved again by anyone in this day and age. To do that without a #1 single (ROM was #1 the week that Chromatica came out) and after 2 lacklustre single roll-outs here (top ten debuts but fading out after), this is wonderful. So proud my country still stans hard for Gaga after all this time!
