Teletubby 141,372
A few weeks after revealing his plans to sell a custom 2022 Lamborghini Urus won from its previous owner, superstar Shakira, in a giveaway, Colombian-American artist Michael Mejía was involved in a car accident while driving the luxury vehicle on Thursday . “I was simply hit. It wasn’t me who crashed,” Mejía told Billboard on Tuesday (March 11). “I was about to cross a street when a car came speeding, and the driver was probably distracted. It was quite a scary moment. Fortunately, I wasn’t injured, but it was a very [tough] moment. The car is being restored. Thankfully, I had good insurance, so the car will be as good as new.” Shakira had provided him with an extra $90,000 to cover various expenses such as taxes, the car’s title transfer, legal fees and six months of insurance payments. but in February, Michael Mejía said he's decided to sell it because of the cost to maintain it. “So far, all the taxes for transferring the car, legal matters and insurance for six months have been paid. And now the federal taxes are due at the end of the year, and yes, that will be about $95,000,” he continued. Mejía also said that the insurance for the car is "more than $2,000 per month" and it costs $70 to fill up the gas tank every two days. "So, with the money she gave me, the car is maintainable for a while, but it’s always quite expensive to keep it," he said. He told Billboard, he’s also facing backlash from the pop superstar’s fans for needing to sell the Lamborghini. "What’s happening now is that all of Shakira’s fans — who initially supported me — are hating me because I decided to sell the car, since it is very costly. So, to them, it’s like, ‘This man is an opportunist. How can he take advantage and sell the prize?’ They see it as potentially disrespectful towards Shakira. I mean, the reality is that the car is very expensive. All the monthly costs are too much, and I just can’t keep up with them.” https://www.billboard.com/music/latin/shakira-lamborghini-winner-car-crash-backlash-interview-1235919571/ "You b*tch!" ~ Rat Boy

But seriously, I guess you do have a point. I myself got it all out of my system in my first year of having my driver's license. Had 3 crashes, the last one destroying my beautiful 800$-car completely. All of them my fault and pretty dumb things like hitting my parents' parked car and such. Nobody else was ever involved - except that third time, when a tree got in my way. Sometimes, I still drive by there just to see if the mark where I hit it is still visible, but luckily, the tree is completely fine. Poor thing. Never had another accident since then, and am often mistaken now as a straight individual based on my exceptional driving skills. The last part is not true, of course, but I choose to live my life halfway between reality and fantasy at all times. Btw: Can't those other Shakira fans worry about their own lives instead of bothering him? It's his car and when he sells it, thatmoney is still gonna be a blessing. His idol made this possible and I'm sure he's grateful. Why would they hate on him for that, especially when he's got very good reasons for selling it. Stupid idiots. And I find Shakira very unlikeable, but giving away her Lamborghini to a fan is a cool thing to do. She even gave him money so that he can pay the taxes!!
CautiousLurker 18,130
Actually I'd be an amazing driver - the police has never caught me once in GTA 5, well, not alive anyway Men are naturally more dominating, aggressive, and logical thinking because we have balls.

StrawberryBlond 14,446
To all the fans who were mad at him for selling it, if they were faced with the same financial woes of owning the car, they'd sell it too. The list he provided makes me exhausted just reading it and I'm glad I don't have to deal with that. I don't even understand how road tax and all that stuff works. As someone who can't drive, part of the reason I don't is because the cost of everything to do with the maintenance is astronomical, even for the most basic of models, least of all a baller-tastic Lambo. Gifting a car to a regular person on a regular salary is a foregone conclusion that they'll have to give it up eventually, so it's kinda pointless at the end of the day. When you've won a prize it's now yours and you can do whatever you like with it, so the fans have no expectation over what he does with it.
