Trump said “radical left lunatics” are “illegally and collusively” boycotting Tesla, which the president described as one of the best automakers in the world. This action, Trump said, was meant as an attack on Musk and what he stands for. It is not illegal for consumers to boycott companies. The Supreme Court in 1982 ruled the First Amendment protects Americans’ rights to protest private businesses. About 350 demonstrators protested outside a Tesla electric vehicle dealership in Portland, Oregon, last week, while nine people were arrested during a raucous demonstration outside a New York City Tesla (TSLA.O), opens new tab dealership earlier in March. Most "Tesla Takedown" protests have been peaceful, but a few have been destructive with fires intentionally set at Tesla showrooms and charging stations in Colorado and Massachusetts last week. Not sure where his reasoning is.. most of the country is "boycotting" by de facto because it's not like everyone is buying a Tesla. How could boycotting a company be “illegal”?? So he thinks deciding not to buy something from a company is illegal, meaning everyone who buys a car is legally obligated to buy a Tesla?
