Some tidbits I thought were interesting:

Doing double duty for SNL was the thing she really wanted to promote the album. This interview was recorded before she hosted but she talked about how important SNL is to her and that it can help break out new artists.

ASIB script was inspired by her own experience, so she wanted to include Ally getting booked for SNL because of how special that was to her.

She was thinking about releasing the song outros a few days before the album came out to tease the record but decided against it.

Played around with the sequence of the tracklist a lot.

Almost didn’t put HBDUWM on the record because of how pop it was, but she’s glad it’s on there. Felt the same about Just Dance back in the day.

Blade of Grass is a beautiful song but it doesn’t feel like the Mayhem is over. DWAS felt like a hopeful ending and the only way to put a period on the album.

Doesn’t want to be defined by her mental health struggles. 

Sees the beauty in “reheating your nachos” because there was always so much pressure to reinvent herself. She realised that there’s a way of creating music that she came up with and she’s owning that as hers now.

BTW easily her favourite album she’s ever made. Queer community made her the artist she is.

Talks a lot about the trans community and the responsibility she felt when addressing rumours about herself. Says it’s a privilege to be able to stand up for the community.

She stands up for the LGBTQ+ community publicly but it’s even more important to her that she lives it in her daily life.

Her first time headlining Coachella she only had a few days to pull it together, but it was great to get to use the stage for ASIB. Wants her 2025 performance to be a surprise.

She'd love to write a Broadway musical and work on the production. Maybe she'd star in it, but mostly she'd love to write one.

She loves making films and being an actor. Learned a lot working with Joaquin, it was a very enriching experience. Would love to do a more light-hearted film, but she likes the dark stuff too.
