What are your thoughts on Mayhem?

So, after having nearly 48 hours to listen to and digest Mayhem, what are your thoughts?

Simply perfect. I thought it would be all BTW/TFM darkpop but she included what she enjoyed growing up, which is pretty much close to what I enjoy as well, (while she's more inclined to classic rock I'm inclined to alternative experimental) which I'm so ****ing happy. Truly. I HATED Joanne and Chromatica was good, but it was made short for streaming, which is a little bit of a bummer. Let's not even mention the jazz albums and whatever she released for Joker.

It’s a diamond. A real exploration of everything gaga is and loves sonically. She says she loves to be a student of music and I think it shines through.

it’s way more 80s and funky than i expected but I’m loving it, few more ballady songs than I’d prefer but as a whole it’s beautiful

I LOVE IT! Except to be "simply perfect" imo How Bad Do U Want Me should be replaced with a track thats more in your face like Abra or Disease. I would remove The Beast, it just feels way too drawn out imo.

The album falls off the moment "Perfect Celebrity" ends. I will give it a few more listens and keep my mind open

I'm really enjoying it. I definitely think Disease and Abracadabra were a bit misleading in terms of the sound we were expecting, which is probably why some people are disappointed, however given time I really see this album becoming a favourite with the fan base. Both ARTPOP and Chromatica were growers on me so I know from experience that some of Gaga's albums can take time and a number of listens.

For me personally, I think a whole album of dark pop would be a little too intense, particularly given all of the doom and gloom going on in the world at the moment, so I am actually really happy with the disco/funk sounds that Gaga has gone with. I feel it will have a similar impact on my that Dua Lipa's Future Nostalgia had on me during Covid. It's just the perfect vibes for the times.

It’s fantastic, I feel the bonus tracks should have been on the standard issue and that maybe there was room for one final song in that darker dance pop groove, but it’s real nitpicking

It's great. I think songs 8 to 10 are really breaking the album's flow though by being extremely generic and uninteresting. The deluxe songs should've added instead of those.

Like, on the first 7 songs you have very interesting instrumentals, Gaga playing and having a lot of fun with her voice and singing in different styles. Then, BOOM, you are hit with 3 extremely generic songs

I just hope and pray Abracadabra and Garden Of Eden will be hits somehow. The others...well, whatever.

It's 70% positive for me. Honestly it's an average album, although better than Joanne. Disease, Perfect Celebrity, Garden Of Eden are best. Abracadabra, Vanish Into You, Don't Call Tonight, Zombieboy, Shadow Of A Man sounds good. The rest is neutral.

Picked simply perfect.

On my initial listen I was at a 7-8, but now I'm at like a 9-10. For me, it's her most consistent album. I liked every song on the first listen, and while I naturally liked some songs over others, my love for each song only grew. In every other album there were always 1-2 songs that I didn't connect with and took me time to fully appreciate; I don't have that with MAYHEM.

First listen I got a bit bored halfway through but the album and a handful of songs have massively grown on me

The whole thing is pretty great
