I'm not saying that to drag the song or Taylor if you're a fan. I'm genuinely not familiar with her music at all as I just know it's not gonna be for me based on what I have heard on the radio over the years.

I just meant that it's funny Taylor's musical stylings are so recognisable that even a non-listener could pick up on the pastiche (intentional or otherwise) in this song - and then I come to this thread and everyone is saying it sounds like her lol

HBDUWM sounds like a song Taylor swift would perform at the Eras tour after Cruel Summer :laughga:

It's somewhat enjoyable! Not a stand out by any means, that's for sure. My least favorite for now, but not a hard instant skip as usually... She tends to have one for me on each album

The hate for How Bad You Want Me is so forced. It brought a certain levity to the album especially at a point where the tracks start to meld together.

I love this song.

Inside, we are really made the same. 🕊

This song, huh?

First and foremost, Lady Gaga is my favourite artist, Lana is second and Taylor is third, so it's probably only natural that I like this song. My first listen notes on this were "sounds like if Lady Gaga did a Taylor Swift song". I wish we had ONE more low line voice at the end, but otherwise, it's a bop.

However, as a Gaga stan of 15 years I am so shocked that she's done this 😂 the album is reference heavy (Prince, MJ, Gwen Stefani) - and I love it, but I really didn't expect to hear a song in the style of Swift. And especially not in the style of Swift's pop music.

But it's definitely intentional. "She's on your mind like all the time", "even the good guys bleed", her delivery of "crush" and "rush" specifically even sound like Taylor! The structure, the lyrics, the layering and the vocal delivery of the song are ALL in the style of Swift. I just can't see why. Maybe Gaga was just having some fun.

Also, it gives me a little bit of Brooklyn Nights vibes? Love that.

Regardless, it's a strong 8.5/10 from me.

I’m trying to persuade myself to like it by imagining she wrote it in an almost satirical way, borderline making fun of herself by saying how weird she is in comparison to the girls the guy likes, and she’s singing ‘like them’ to almost take the p1ss out of herself and show how different she is from everything he’s otherwise drawn to. Like bright bubblegum happy boring ‘good girl’ sound with lyrics like ‘bro I literally got my body permanently scarred FOR YOU and you’re still thinking about her. LOOK AT WHAT I DO FOR YOU!!!’. Like she doesn’t feel adequate compared to the standard ‘good girl’ and is almost talking herself down in the song. That is the ONLY way I can see any value in it and it might not even be accurate :laughga:

I think it's not too much of a reach, like not complete satire but I can't think of what the correct word would be :oprah: but the style and melody imo is part of the message of the song -to me it's too obviously similar to a Taylor song to not be extremely on purpose that way

I can't figure out the lyrics but the "good girl" idea partly making fun of herself makes a lot of sense and we know that she's almost never completely straightforward when she's feeling this creative so

I like the song anyway because it has the 80s edge in the production that gets me, but the layers make me appreciate it more (and also I'm so curious who it's about lmao :volantis:)

A friend of mine said it reminded her of Too Much by Carly Rae Jepsen. And I can't unhear it.

On my first listen I realised that it sounded exactly as a Carly Rae Jepsen kind of pop or Taylor Swift. And the question is, since Carly is so adored and praised, why so many people hate on this song? It's super cute. I can totally see why this made it to the main tracklist and the 2 bonus songs are, well, bonus.

I feel you are right. The sound of the song is inextricably tied to the meaning.

If we can all hear Swift sounds.... Then Gaga obviously engineered it. Can't understand people that think this woman made a song and didn't hear the similarities... Or thought she could copy it.... Or would even want to.

Can we all just apply logic here. This is surely on purpose and the meaning should be discovered.

Does anyone else think the start is sampling Yazoo / Alison Moyet "Only You"?

I just looked it up and it sounds super similar! if not a sample could be inspiration

That song is so sad sounding omg:traumatica:

[Chorus]
'Cause you like my hair and my ripped-up jeans
You like the bad girl I got in me
She's on your mind, like, all the time
But I got it tattooed for us last week
Even good boys leave
How bad, bad do you want me?
(How bad, bad do you want me?)
(How bad, bad do you want mе?)
'Cause you hate the crash, but you lovе the rush
And I'll make your heart weak every time
You hear my name, but she's in your brain
And I'm here to kiss you in real life
'Bout to cause a scene
How bad, bad do you want me?

She played around in Taylor’s closet like Bruce played around in Kris’s but this time the result is perfection!!!! I’m not even playing when I say this song is hot on Abra’s ass for the #1 on my Mayem favorites list. And the fact that Gaga acknowledged the 1989 TV vibe on TikTok. The Swiftie in me is thriving!
