Otherwise 3D animation tends to look all the same. I’m guessing they’re trying to give Shrek a bit of that identity they’ve been working on with their recent films. Nobody watches the Shrek movies for their outstanding advancements in computer animation. It's supposed to look goofy and cartoony. This is so much more uncanny.
