Girl dies by s*icide after bullying over family's immigration status

CNN — A young girl’s death by suicide is being investigated by school police after her mother says she was bullied by other students who hurled insults at her, claiming her family was in the US illegally.

Eleven-year-old Jocelynn Rojo Carranza died on February 8 – five days after her mother found her unresponsive at their home in Gainesville, Texas, according to an online obituary. Her funeral took place Wednesday morning.

“All week I’ve been waiting for a miracle - waiting for my daughter to get better,” her mother Marbella Carranza told CNN affiliate KUVN. “But unfortunately there was nothing that could be done.”

Jocelynn was bullied and taunted at school over her family’s immigration status, Carranza told CNN Wednesday. Jocelynn attended Gainesville Intermediate School, according to KUVN.

“They were going to call immigration so they could take her parents away and she would be left alone,” Carranza told KUVN. She did not address the immigration status of the family in her interview with KUVN.

Pre-teen su!cide is a very real issue. And people will see this and still think that it's okay to make fun of others for being bullied by saying sh!t like "You were probably a loser in K-12." Take legal action against everyone, including her classmates, regardless of age. Lady Gaga said it best, bullying should be illegal.

Im pretty sure societes overall advancement and growth in enlightenment pretty much stalled by lates 2000s and early 2010s and has been on a reversal ever since. The way ppl are becoming more cruel, savage, greedy and lacking in generam empanthy is beyond me combined with the rise of racism and other forms of discrimination that up until 10-12 years we were still making progress on

Honestly, in an optimistic sense it was until 2018/2019 that progressiveness was going forward (even with the alt-right slowly surging more and more), the moment this decade started is when everything started really going more severely downhill.

I've talked to my mom about this, and the internet happened way to quickly for evolution to comprehend. Species wide changes with fundamental consequences take hundreds of thousands to millions of years to take shape. It's been what, like ~35 years since the internet became publicly available? Humanity cannot handle it. We may think we can with tutorials, breaks, therapy, etc, but we can't.

The is beyond heartbreaking. 
I’m mixed with sadness and anger reading this. Sadness for this poor girl who didn’t deserve this type of bullying. Anger at the right who have allowed this racist rhetoric to go unchecked and cost the life of an innocent child.
