And she will be left outside :cheeky:

The "spice girl in this b*tch" album definitely did not help her :ororomunroe: it was actually ASIB

Of course ASIB had way much more impact. But do you really think that could've happened if Joanne didn't take place first? I mean...

Imagine going from ARTPOP to ASIB :lolga: or releasing another proper pop album instead of Joanne and jumping to ASIB after that. Joanne was really needed in that time and it cooled down things A LOT to the general public perspective

Well yeah I don't know what could've happened but neither do you :cheeky: that doesn't make Joanne any better :ororomunroe:

Imo the insufferable fans are the ones who will not accept any criticism towards their idol, I'd rather be a horrible little monster complaining than a brainwashed swiftie

It's easy to say Joker now, but think of how many A-List actors end up in terrible movies.

The truth is one can only be sure if a movie is good after watching it. She had scenes cut, the director made her sing like "a regular person"... She wouldn't have accepted if she knew all of this beforehand.

Probably the long gap of Studio records.

Whether that meant not capitalizing on The Cures success (with a Joanne Deluxe :sis: ) , the goodwill after Shallow in 2019 or from 2021 onwards until DWAS in August of 2024. The long gaps are the worst move in her career, cause while we fans obviously want music and streaming services said that artists that release irregularly will not be favored by the algorithm, it may would've helped her legacy in general, to maybe have 1-2 more albums out.

unless the music was 143... greatness can't be rushed.

Well ASIB is like The Bodyguard

It was in terms of album sales and cultural impact. (Maybe not quite the Bodyguard! But in that vicinity for sure.)

But not in terms of singles. Whitney had three top five singles, including one smash single (I Will Always Love You, I'm Every Woman, I Have Nothing). It also had another decent hit single (Run To You).

Gaga had one smash single, Shallow. ARUTW and INLA should both be top 5 or top 10 singles. And I believe both would have been had they been given proper single treatment.

Omg when i saw that Paper magazine photoshoot at the beginning of the chromatica era, i thought the aesthetic would be that android fashion robotic space thing. Specially that masterpiece picture in the glass inside a blood lake was insane for an era theme aesthetically..

Then came that crafty first music video with shiny pink small girly alien funny thing jesus! 😁🤷🏻‍♂️ The brutally turn of the ball it was obviously way better but the plan was already lost and in ball it was something totally unrelated with the album n totally new. But, any ways, better..

Always remember us this way... I always believe its better than Shallow. Ok i understand they want the more easy for first single nnit went super good but they left the real diamond without help alone -and still it goes brilliantly (imagine with some help)

Don't get me started with Joanne n some of you that tell that its highlight. If it was some one else's album then we would have dragged it through hell. Tragic. All of it. Except maybe from the lead which it was ok.

I believe this year she will do everything to save the game, the dark theme (not in a disease dark please but in a most aesthetically pleasant way - i mean Alejandro was dark too right? ) With abra start setting the light and i hope for way better darks 😁🖤

Very unpopular opinion: not releasing a follow-up album to ARTPOP as a direct reaction to what was happening at that time. In my opinion ARTPOP was her most honest and truthful record and it's such a pity from a fan perspective to not see her going into that direction more boldly the last couple of years. Would she have been given the chance to do the Superbowl or sing the national anthem at the inauguration? Probably not or we never know but I feel like her reset with Joanne and Jazz is at one side totally resourceful for her as a human being to make several decisions about her mental health but at the same time I feel like she now lives in this weird isolated artistic state of having a radical artistic nature by heart but at the same time fulfilling compromises to follow the extreme commercial pressure of staying at the top where she is now when in reality a more independent take would suit her musical need a bit more more imo. I feel like Chromatica and Mayhem seem to be albums that are still heavily influenced by ARTPOP (Mayhem even more than Chromatica, because ARTPOP was more dark than positive imo) but at the same time both albums (at least what we got with the two singles) have a certain commercialized aspect in the producer segment of it all that just is missing the radical unapolgetic spirit that she hasn't put out since ARTPOP for me. Idk if I made my point clear but I feel like every release from her since that album came out feels like it reaffirms that ARTPOP was the peak in her career in terms of unapologetically speaking her inner truth that all her previous albums led up to but since then every record stands in correlation to that period of time and musical output but doesn't show signs of reaching a peak that is similar to what ARTPOP signified back then.

I feel like she really needed to have done something with all the crazy hate and 'NO'S' she received because it weirdly seems that period of time still affects her to this day at least sonically. Chromatica and Mayhem both are much closer to ARTPOP than all her other records. Her going into the Jazz route instead of releasing a follow up record seemed like an (understandable) form of escapism of that noise but I feel like this noise is still haunting her as a question mark which is asking her to be recognized.

edit: Ofc this isn't really the right thread as you are asking what her "worst" career moves were and I wouldn't strictly put this opinion into that type of category. I'm more than thankful for everything she does today. This just spontaneously came into my mind when I was thinking about it

Sadly there have been many mistakes. Let’s go through the years:

2016: Releasing PI as the lead from Joanne and ignoring more worthy songs like DH. DH would have brought more attention to the the era and made it more successful overall.

2018: No JWT dvd. I don’t understand why she doesn’t film the shows early in the tour in case she’s unable to perform later on.

Not pushing ASIB more. ARUTW was a smash waiting to happen and it’s unfathomable as to why it wasn’t pushed.

2019: Enigma. Everything about it was a mess and she should have only done the jazz one.

2020: Chroamtica era. So much potential and a cool theme to be explored. Bloodpop watered it down too much and her abandoning it made the fan base shrink considerably. She made it impossible to trust her word during this time and she hasn’t quite recovered from that yet.

2021-2023: Her ad era and House of Gucci. Very boring movie and didn’t add any value to anything.

Not doing something more special for BTW anniversary. How iconic if she went back to film a music video or scheibe it something.

Not doing anything for ARTPOP 10 years anniversary and ignoring it at the chromatica ball. Missed opportunity to release some unreleased tracks or something.

2024: joker. I don’t care how good the script seemed at first, her scenes being cut out etc. Turning a movie like this into a musical was a bad idea and made all her characters tied to singing or fashion while revolving around a man.

Not releasing Disease in early October and promoting it. While promo finally seems to be on its way, it’s crazy how the era started 4 months ago and all we have so far are some cute that aren’t even focused really on the album.

Some highlights though:

Sounds of Music tribute

Superbowl

ASIB

Shallow

Jazz in Vegas

ROM

DWAS

Mayhem songs so far

Is That Alright? was kinda big around the time the album came out, despite not being featured in the original cut of the movie... Such a beautiful song!
