lastpopicon 21,284
The Fame should have won AOTY in 2009, one of the best debut albums of all time and it shaped the pop scene for years to come. And it lost to Fearless Be serious. And I'll die on this hill: It's her most timeless and interesting album, it carries a song and vibe you can't get anywhere else, it's gaga at the extreme and the closest we EVER got to see behind the curtains with her music. Rant over The melody that you choose can rescue you

I don’t know the details but Shape Of You won Best Pop Solo Performance, so… Most of the time, it looks like popularity contests, OR attempts to create controversy for clout
Ashley 9,232
I think this is shaping up to be one of her best records yet, but as far as the competition throughout the rest of the year we’ll have to wait and see.

StrawberryBlond 14,633
No guarantees, but I think her chances are probably the biggest they've ever been. The Grammys are big fans of giving people a "career Grammy" in this category, as it were. You could tell they gave it to Beyonce because she'd been nominated 4 times in that category and lost every time, even though she had a huge fanbase and campaign who get outraged after every snub. It was starting to make the academy look bad so they felt giving her this was making up for all those past snubs. Gaga's in the exact same spot. She's been nominated 4 times previously as well, and she should've had 5, if the academy didn't INEXPLICABLY SNUB ASIB. I will never forget that even though that album had multiple nominations, awards (won 4/7 nominations including best soundtrack) and they clearly loved it - personally, I think they knew it would win but didn't want it to as they wanted to spotlight someone else. So, if she's nominated next year, which there's every likelihood she will, she's the first to have really cast a stone for an AOTY, she'll be in the exact same place Beyonce is now - 5th time AOTY nominee, ready to get her flowers and long overdue. We know this is going to be her last album in a while, it may be time for the academy to realise she needs to start a hiatus in style.
