I like Taylor a lot (aside from her capitalist/money draining tactics), but I agree with a number of the comments made above. Madonna's music has (and forever will have)  much more cultural relevance than any Taylor record ever would.

I used to be a bitter LM when Madonna made her comments/digs at Gaga back in 2012, but I finally let that go and gave her a chance in 2020 during the pandemic and it quite possibly was one of the greatest things to ever happen to me (as her I find her music/artistic message to be incredibly inspiring).

Madonna has hits FOR DAYS. Madonna has critically acclaimed (pop staple) albums. Madonna, over the course of her career, has taken creative risks most artists wouldn't even dare to take (let alone, Taylor Swift). Madonna is the reason why most of our favorite female artists have "eras" (her nickname "Queen of Reinvention"). Madonna came from absolutely nothing (no family connections or support), moved to NYC by herself with only $35 at 18 years-old from the midwest, and managed to become the biggest female artist of all time.

It's a shame that a lot of baby gays (and I say this as someone who is in their 20s) don't see the value in her and her artistic output. Madonna has worked incredibly hard for the records she has broken.

Taylor, as much as I like her, uses tactics to make her seem more relevant than she actually is. Her core fan-base is huge, but the encouragement of mass overconsumption (i.e., the multiple variants of one singular album, the fake "limited edition" countdowns on her website to promote panic buying *only to put the "limited" product in stock back three weeks later, adding signed editions of albums to her store well after fans have pre-orders regular versions) is wildly unethical and con-artist adjacent.
