hwyunicorn 0
Ugh...the longer I think about this the longer it makes me mad. I had to do such a backflip to even obtain tickets, not to mention the fact that I was planning on going to the Atlantic City Show (that eventually was rescheduled to State College - but we won't get into that), lost my presale abilities, and then had to scrape together the cash to afford a $100 GA ticket. I poured money into an outfit that will probably never be worn now. I was willing to wake up at the crack of dawn to sit in line in the freezing cold with other fans just so we could be closer to her. I've bought concert tickets, CDs, books and even traveled to New York to Nicola Formichetti's pop up shop, JUST TO SEE HER OUTFITS. It makes me mad that this is the story of so many of us, sacrificing time and money for ONE PERSON. I understand its her health, and I understand that to an extent she probably did not have much of a choice. But the tour was CANCELED, not postponed, not rescheduled, straight up ripped the rug beneath me 6 days before I was supposed to go. For months I've been reading about her touring around the world, purposefully not watching videos or even barely looking at pictures of the show to make it better for me. It was supposed to be more then just a concert - it was supposed to be an experience. I look at this retrospectively and feel I've invested too much into this one person. As much as I admire Gaga, and she's had a huge influence in my life (I pretty much bleached my hair blonde because of her and chose my career as a makeup artist after I was constantly replicating her looks) - I'm not sure I can allow myself to become this attached to something that really, in the grand scheme of things, is entertainment. The prices of the tickets were, astronomical. I see bands that I love just as much as Gaga for $15-$20, and I even get to chat with them sometimes, or atleast grab a pic. I can't even imagine the hoops of fire I'd have to jump through just to even see her. I don't know, I just am not sure I am interested in doing this again. I feel pretty burned and kinda duped, because she doesn't know who I am. She didn't know I worked extra shifts or spent hours sewing - and she won't. It's entertainment and I shouldn't be as bummed as I am - but I am. And just like when a person you know burns you, you're not sure you'll want to play the game again. So not saying I won't still listen to her music, or even buy her new CD - I'm a music lover and she's an incredibly important artist in contemporary pop. But I'm not sure I'll ever be this invested ever again. And I suspect I'm not the only one.

With all due respect, her doctored ordered her to stop touring and her recovery period will take months - possibly up to half a year. By this time, it would be foolish to pick up on two more months of touring when she plans to release a new album this year. It's not like she's never going to tour again. It's unfortunate that so many people missed out on seeing her, but I'm more than certain she is thinking up ways to make up for it. In regards to ticket sales, her prices are steep, but considering the cost of venues, they HAVE to be steep. She's not performing with a keyboard in a tiny venue where it's reasonable to charge 15 bucks a ticket. She's one of the world's biggest popstars hiring out stadiums with truckloads of equipment. Of course she needs to charge more. Edited February 16, 2013 by etron I love judas SO MUCH but I canʹt look like a copycat of JLO!!!!

Of course she needs to charge more. Your missing my point a little bit. Its less about what happend about more about the aftermath of it. I frankly don't care how long I'd have to wait for a rescheduled show - 6 months, a year. Its the fact that I've spent months mulling over this one date, and poof, its gone. I'm not criticizing her canceling the shows, if she's hurt - she's hurt. There's nothing you can do about it. Gotta take some time recover. All I'm saying is that personally - for me - I'm going to be less invested from now on. I think that our culture's obession with celebrities is unhealthy - and I thought I was immune to it, but clearly I wasn't, showing by how genuinely upset I am. This one person isn't ever going to know what I, and hundreds of other fans, had to do to get to her show. Everyone can say "oh she's very upset!" and I'm sure she is - but if she took the time to speak to ALL of us, every single one, and the sometimes struggle just to see her live, I think that the enormity of the situation would become clear. And what I'm saying is that this isn't what I'm interested in, taking this cancelation so personally. Its one person, its a musiscian. I like her music - I shouldn't feel so bad because an enteratainer canceled their show. I've become too invested in this and I'm going to stop. In terms of concert ticket prices, you just said they were steep. I didn't argue that there wasn't a justification for it - it's just they are expensive. Period. All major pop performers are expensive, and I don't think its fair to expect us, the common folk, to shell out that kind of money. They should be more reasonable and if the solution is smaller venues or less pyro, then so be it. And also, sometimes musicians in a tiny venue with a piano is the most real and honest performance you're ever going to see. They don't hide behind a huge backup band, lights and sets. And don't get me wrong, Gaga is honestly talented and when put in those scenarios I'm sure she'd be just as real. But if looking for music, not a stage show, then $20 is right on my price point. Sorry, I think I did miss the intention of your first post. I had thought you were saying Gaga shouldn't have cancelled and that she wasn't being considerate, but I see what you're saying now. I really do feel for you not being able to see the show. I wish there was a way that Gaga could see how much effort you (and many other people) put into earning the tickets, making outfits, buying merch, etc. It's such a shame that it's had to end like this, but I have a strong feeling she will make it up to the fans, one way or another. I just really hope you'll be able to make it to the ARTPOP Ball. :) I love judas SO MUCH but I canʹt look like a copycat of JLO!!!!

I'm so sorry this happened to you. :( You shouldn't get TOO wrapped up into any one thing, but you shouldn't just drop something because of one disaster either. What if you had been in an accident yourself and had to be in the hospital the night of the show? It would be the exact same result. It's human nature to blame the thing we love when it hurts, but the love itself is not to blame. :)

I went to see the Rolling Stones perform in New Jersey. Tickets to that show were averaging around $600. Who is to blame for that? Seeing the Rolling Stones live IS an amazing experience, and there are enough rich people in that area to fill an arena, and $600 is pocket change for them. How do you fix that? How do you make more Rolling Stones so that the supply and demand isn't so out of whack?
scheibe1234 0
So after days of crying + mourning after hearing the news I want to express my thoughts + emotions. I just wanted to get this off my shoulders and maybe get help from someone. I'm so dissapointed and sad that the BTW Ball got cancelled. I've waited for this day ever since the moment I got my hands on the BTW album. I listened to all the songs over and over again, it was more than an album to me, it was liberation, it was an escape that I could go to. It helped me and cheered me up through my roughest times. Last year, I became so depressed because of my s-xuality I was on the verge of commiting suicide. Instead, I was baker acted and sent to the mental hospital. Things didn't really change for me after that moment. But what helped me through it all, was marry the night. I'd listen to it every night and tell myself, "I'm going to marry the night... I won't give up on my life... I'm a warrior [king]... live passionately tonight.." Tears slid down my face as I listened to the Marry the Night Bambi Awards Acoustic Version. The intro gave me goosebumps and numbed my body of all the pain. Marry the night was my favorite song and I hoped to see it live at the concert, and actually "marry the night" Well anyway, what kept me going and hanging on for my life was the BTW ball. It was the only thing I looked forward to and the only reason I kept fighting. It kept me optimistic because I could be free and liberated at the BTW ball. Now, the BTW ball is canceled and I am so depressed that everyday my head feels like a gushing waterfall. I've waited years, watched countless videos, learned every choreography, and breathed every song + lyric. I can't believe this is happening right now. What is there for me now? I don't know. I wanted this so badly and now it's gone. What do I have to look forward to? My life sucks. Then again, I also feel horribly guilty and selfish. I don't want to be mad or depressed because of this. I know it is selfish of me. I know that her health is more important and she cannot do anything. But a big part of me hurts. It cries, it mourns, it dies. I don't know how much longer I can take this or when I'll be able to get over this (if ever). I used to listen to BTW album to cheer me up in the past, but ironically now I can't. If I listen to it, I burst out into tears because it reminds me of the BTW ball and how I'll never get to experience it :(. Goodbye :(

I just wanted to get this off my shoulders and maybe get help from someone. ..... Is normal to be frustrated and upset with the situation but Gaga will heal and she will be on tour again ASAP. You'll see :) We all believe that Celebrities are like Superman or movie characters, but the reality is different. And right now is when reality hits us. Celebrities are humans who can become ill. I know it's hard, but you must be strong. Edited February 17, 2013 by pabloagus
