Mirrion Rizzons 10,705
It’s a soft bop, like it’s not great but it’s cute. Chromatica’s Hard bops for me are ROM, 911, sour Candy, enigma, replay and Babylon The rest are semi hard / soft bops And then I don’t like Flop from Above and Free Flop Edited February 10 by Mirrion Rizzons

RAYA.core 773
This and The Cure are songs that are so unique in different sounding. It's astonishing how the wide range of different sounds Gaga extends to. Especially in Joanne as well. ╰☆╮𝙸𝚐𝚗𝚘𝚛𝚎 𝚊𝚕𝚕 𝚑𝚊𝚝𝚛𝚎𝚍 𝚊𝚗𝚍 𝚌𝚛𝚒𝚝𝚒𝚌𝚒𝚜𝚖. Even the lyrics to some of her biggest hits like Shallow are really random and abstract and vague. I think the album with the best lyrics is probably Joanne actually. I think the chanting lyrics, though, are difficult to write well! She has a good sense for pop hooks and lyricism and the performance ability to pull them off. I think if you look to her to be woody Guthrie, yeah, you’ll be disappointed. But I think she’s a great pop lyricist in that she reaaally know how to write a chorus and hook that feel a little more grand than normal pop Edited February 10 by Ziggy 1

But I think she’s a great pop lyricist in that she reaaally know how to write a chorus and hook that feel a little more grand than normal pop she writes catchy tunes with memorable melodies and easy to remember words, but i wouldn't say the lyrics are necessarily evidence of "good writing". "i want your loving i want your revenge you and me could write a bad romance" is literally something a 5 year old child could write, for example. extremely catchy, very memorable, and that makes it a good POP lyric. But when you compare it to some of the other lyricists out there like Lana etc. who are clearly very much about storytelling (or even Taylor Swift tbh), Gaga's songs really feel very hollow in comparison. Born This Way is an exception because she was at the height of her inspiration and career I find (and to be honest, G.U.Y. has some amazing turns of phrases so she is capable of great lyrics!) But overall I don't think she should really be considered lyricist of the year. Which is fine - her strengths lie in melodies, singing, dancing, performing. No one can be great at absolutely everything! I do agree the non-verbal sounds are hard to pull-off, but that's more a performer skill than anything else. I can't imagine Katy Perry pulling off Abracadabra no matter how hard she tries.

I mean, to write a song SO dense with hooks that doesn’t sound generic or factory slop? That’s a hard skill! She’s not Joni Mitchell in songwriting but in the field she operates in mama is about the best of the best. There’s different kinds of good songwriting is my point her arena has never been acoustic storytelling type songwriting. But gd if she doesn’t write a great pop hook better than anyone

HelloHangoverz 17,029
BOP BOP. Plastic doll is such a beautiful song imo about loneliness. About locking yourself away behind a plastic screen of emotional unavailability so people can't touch you or hurt you. But it's also about the consequences of that loneliness. When she says "Don't play with me, it just hurts me", yeah she's talking about fcukboys with an agenda. But she's also talking about the good ones, who she's incapable of connecting with, because in a headspace like that, any true act of love is misinterpreted as 'you're playing with me'. Underrated and such a touching song Spoiler @PartySick IS NO ONE GOING TO HELP ME WITH THE POST OFFICE?! 1
