Kayi 2,071
Cause the song use a 6/8 rythm just like Bloddy Mary. Which make it a haunting song. This song also incorporate an absurd quantity of genres influences (disco, house, acid trance, goth rock, electroclash, europop) which make it super catchy The vocals are crazy, crazy, crazy there's some growls at the begginning just like in the CBT, you know these kinds of sonorities are more metal-like rather than pop-ish, then she use some dark theatrical contained vocals and it explodes at the chorus which... There's something in the vocals that are also reminescent of her Rock records like Perfect Illusion, You and I or John Wayne. And gosh the operatic part is so good !!! But... I feel like it's ok to say this on a Gaga forum, but yeah Gaga delivered a lot on the vocals, the intrumentals, the themes/refs of her lyrics and the universe/story-telling of this album, even more than anything I saw from any other main pop artists currently. Like see how passionate are the vocal coachs who analyze it I'm here to take a break from university homeworks :/
chathonnete 527
What's amazing in my opinion is the bridge where Gaga sings in a sort of transe techno opéra. The first time I listened to it I was like "this is the best Gaga did in a while, it's insane"
eifulien 2,808
I agree. It's also surprising to me how many fans compare the MAYHEM singles to TFM. Yeah, TFM aesthetic was dark but how do we disregard the fact that TFM songs are very polished and "smooth" sounding. Teeth stands out as more "rough around the edges" with its sound. Now the comparisons to BTW and ARTPOP, I agree with. Both Disease and Abracadabra have that bass, that distortion and unhinged theatrical vocals. So yeah, if Abracadabra becomes a global hit, I'll be pleasantly surprised since singles from BTW and AP like MTN and GUY are mostly appreciated within the fandom. Edit: Can we also talk about the Post-chorus? The feel the beat part is like the sequel to Swine's Paint your face and be a swine just for the weekend.
