Not always...I'm still incredibly miffed about her silence during the election despite everything she's always stood for being at stake. The decision to stay out of social/political issues was to not draw negative PR for her planned Joker campaign but it was abandoned after the film flopped anyway. So she ditched her morality and activism for no reason  

She's got a lot of atoning to do for that in my eyes but this was a good step in the right direction

There are lots of legacy acts that weren't nominated that could've done this instead. Giving it to active artists who were nominated when they had a song of their own to promote wasn't fair. It's nothing to do with selfishness, it's about fair play. The least the Grammys could do is allow them to perform it next year. It's the only way they could make up for the under-handed thing they did. Gaga deserves so much and they keep messing her around for no reason. I don't understand why more people aren't mad about this.

Didn't she post an endorsement video for Kamala and also perform at one of her final campaign stops?  Did people actually think she would endorse Trump?

At the last minute and the performance was the bare minimum

She campaigned for both Clinton and Biden and dedicated a substantial amount of her online presence to the issues that were at stake. At this crucial time where a second Trump term was looming, LGBTQ+ rights were at extreme risk, women's rights were at risk, racial minorities' rights and protections were at risk, immigrants' rights and safety were at risk, she opted to stay quiet aside from saying "make sure to vote" in July, posting a tiktok, and performing for two and a half minutes 'cause they didn't want her in the news for anything other than Joker...and I guess they kinda got what they wanted in the end

Optics aside, I look at it this way: We might not otherwise have gotten the gem that is Gaga & Bruno performing "California Dreamin'" together. We have performances/video of DWAS, and we might get even more. I'm really happy we have this unexpected "California Dreamin'" performance. 

They did the right thing.

Atoning ? She has a duty/responsibility to fight certain battles ? No she doesn't.

And why are you assuming that she was quiet because of JFAD ? It's possible that that was the reason, but I think it's more likely that it was because of Michael, either because he advised/asked her not to, or because she decided against putting his personal safety at risk. Make no mistake, if you speak up publicly against maga you are taking a risk.

That's pure speculation on my part. So is suggesting that it was because of JFAD.
