StrawberryBlond 14,284
Freaking knew it. Just typical. They could have done that tribute performance anywhere, anytime, but a Grammy performance of your current #1 single is something not many artists get to do. Music is nothing to do with natural disasters and it's odd that we make this connection by singing songs in concerts that encourage people to donate to relief causes. What is it about hearing a song that makes people donate? Its never made me want to donate, you should want to donate because a tragedy happened and a song dedicated to it making you cry shouldn't be the catalyst for taking it upon yourself to donate. It's an odd phenomena in human psychology when we do this. The tribute was split into two, one at the start with a load of people and then this random duet later. I've never seen a 2 part tribute before. It was weird and suggests there was something more going on. We got a lovely song out of it, but it was unnecessary. And I disagree that it would've overshadowed Abracadabra, it would've helped it. When an artist puts out a single while their last one is still big, both songs usually feed off each other and are big at the same time. It's over-saturation but as long as the public like the songs, it'll work out. 1 1 1
MEM 3,061
I KNEW it wasn't just about the lyrics being insensitive!! It's the biggest hit in a while and the song is about love. It would've been the PERFECT love letter to LA and community but no... enter Ben Winston. I don't trust this producer guy for a SECOND. He planted a seed in their minds about this whole tribute thing, and as a result we got Lady Gaga & Bruno Mars performing a last minute cover for 2 minutes and 20 seconds. Call me a conspirator, I don't care. There's something weird here. It is so DUMB that a song that WON Best Duo didn't even get performed. They could've performed BOTH the tribute and DWAS, AND DONATED ALL OF THE MONEY to LA. I don't buy this 'reasoning'. They were amazing as always, but the other performers got to have more of a "moment" and I can see them more on my social feeds; Sabrina Carpenter, Doechii, Raye etc. Same with the winners. I just know that Winston knew DWAS x Grammys live would be too powerful, it might have even overshadowed the fact that Beyonce won her overdue AOTY. In retrospect, I can kind of see the night being curated so specifically to highlight certain moments/artists. Like it was not a night in favour of Gaga and Bruno and never planned to be. I even clocked Bruno acting out of character, like was annoyed to be there or something. They didn't even take pics together backstage with their Grammy I'm staying mad about it. Alfonso 1,436
Of course they were.. I don't say it didn't like it but they could've easily done a mashup or two performances. DWAS would've been better.
ALGAYDO 30,678
Some of her fans truly deserve the absolute worst for wanting her to prioritize her own profit over helping those in need. And it’s not like any of you get a cut of the profits, it’s literally just being selfish for the sake of being selfish. Glad most of us understand than human lives and wellbeing are more important than bragging right or money. It was supposed to be on par with her duet with Elton John at the 52nd Grammys.
