That's literally a demon , how is it a doctor :laughga:

“Witch Doctor” (often part of indigenous African cultures): a traditional healer and diviner, especially one who claims to guard against or cure afflictions thought to be caused by spirit possession or witchcraft.

However, the idea of an evil witch doctor is a trope that came out of European literature (claiming that these witch doctors were actually the witches/sorcerers themselves). IMO, the MAYHEM character explores both sides of that trope: is she a healer? is she a demon? Maybe more of a shamanic trickster?

I don't like this whole character thing; it's always silly and gets dropped. Oh well, as long as she doesn't make up another fantasy Chromatica land with whatever the **** tribes

I remember when people thought each tribe would have their own song and the album would be an intergalactic space opera of sorts lmao :ohwell::icant:

Yes, there’s a clear aesthetic and thematic connection between the two, and the Elle piece mentions that Paris and Gaga specifically talked about continuing the exploration of duality and inner turmoil between the two videos.

Yes! Also mentioned in this Q&A about the Abracadabra MV:

"We ultimately decided that the video should be Mayhem the character, the lady in red - it's her club, and it's her night and she's saying, 'Okay, everybody that's here with us, we've done this before. And, tonight, you only have two choices, you can either dance or it's over. And I'm out."
