Her friends perceive her (correctly or incorrectly) as being attacked, so they stick up for her. End of. It's no different from what the fans do. Conspiracy theories are unnecessary and silly. In fact, Gaga has several times denounced this behavior -- although you can hardly expect her to be too harsh on people who are trying (misguidedly or not) to defend her.
