Trump to hold migrants at Guantanamo Bay

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump said Wednesday that he is directing the opening of a detention center at Guantanamo Bay to hold up to 30,000 migrants who are living illegally in the United States.

Trump made the announcement right before he signed the Laken Riley Act into law as his administration’s first piece of legislation. The bipartisan measure means that people who are in the U.S. illegally and are accused of theft and violent crimes would have to be detained and potentially deported even before a conviction.

Truly disgusting. There are US citizens who are real corrupt criminals and walk away without a scratch. 
 

Villainizing poor people who had to leave their home country to have even an ounce at a decent life is so shameful. This is all my worst fears after last November coming true. 

I'm just like the government can't let this happen. Where are the democrats? Where are the leaders? AOC is the only one who has been remotely fired up, serving the proper energy, and informing the people.

This isn't directed at you but I've seen this similar sentiment on social media and the only thing I have to say is: 

So many people sat out of this election and so many refused to vote for Harris.

This is what you get because so many voted for this and so many refused to vote against this.

People spent months asking if Kamala Harris was black instead of focusing on Project 2025 which is obviously their policy goal.

Yes, I found that sentiment so irritating, and can't help but wonder if some of it was Elon's bots sabotage too, but again, also, people often end up acting against their own and their our country's people's best interests. 

That said, as public servants, democrats in office have duty to serve the people, and I wish there was more of a response that what they as a party are doing. For example, having an emergency meeting a whole day later when these types of things are happening is crazy to me (referring to the federal funding pause situation).
