Well yes

Now, the way they tried to cover it all up is irresponsible and should be cause for mistrust.

We can

But also yes to this 'cause it's deserved.

If the US and China really are the globe's leaders we are d-o-n-e-f*cked.

The way some of you immediately twist this and try to blame the USA. Like it’s a habit for you. The discussion could be about anything and immediately a few of you are “well it’s no worse than the US, or the US funds the research, or I don’t trust the USA for the next four years.”

this isn’t about the UsA. Covid came from incompetence and negligence in China. It was mishandled by China. China has huge opportunities when it comes to the handling and cross contaminating of products and food. But no, we can’t blame China. We inevitably  have to twist it around on the USA.

Dude, the US is literally funding the research in that lab, the lab where they make these exact viruses. It came from incompetence and negligence from China but the US also tried to misinform their own citizens and the whole world about the origins of the virus since they are the ones funding it and they knew they would catch a lot of heat for it. The US even sent the exact same persons who funds these projects to investigate, only for them to say there wasn't a leak because of course there wasn't, they want to sweep it under the rug. Even Australia wasn't happy about it and wanted a redo but China was ready for trade war against Australia if that was to happen.

We blame both the US and China for different things. Get a grip.

Maybe it's because English is not my first language but isn't the choice of words kinda contradictory? The origin is most likely from the lab but also they have low confidence in that assessment? How does that fit together?

What they've said is that a lab origin is 'more likely' than a natural origin. If they were 80/20 on that, they would  go high confidence, but if it's close to 51/49 they'd go low confidence.

If you read the full article, and in particular the comments (to Breitbart) of the new CIA chief, John Ratcliffe, it is clear that what this is about is shifting the blame for the deaths of 1m Americans away from Trump and entirely to China.

Not being American I don't have first hand experience, but my understanding is that a significant number of US deaths were down to mishandling by Trump, and this changed stance by the CIA is ultimately about pretending that that wasn't the case.

The White House Press Secretary just said this and said “Trump was right again”

The way that people assume lab leak means it was done with biological warfare intent bewilders me. If it had happened in, say, the UK, France, US etc. I’d be willing to bet money on there being a sweeping media tidal wave insisting it was an accident and human error and it was a sample they found naturally and were observing. But instead they leave it as vague as ‘lab leak’ and don’t correct the masses of people claiming it was done to wipe out other countries and manufactured intentionally. Crazy.
