don’t make fun but has anyone else felt extremely emotional and nostalgic this whole weekend? 

Mayhem reminds me sooo much of her unreleased stuff, and it brings me back to that time in my life when I was in my early teens and I became obsessed with her. There was new content every single day and I was just so young and it felt like it would all last forever. I was going through a lonely time in my life, and I would just escape into her music and art every single day after school. I’ve lost touch with all my old Twitter/Tumblr mutuals, but I bet they’re all out there rn celebrating the release. A younger version of me would have done absolutely nothing but blast the album and talk to my online friends since Friday but I have work and “adult” responsibilities now. 
I guess what I’m trying to say is everything feels exactly the same but also very different and it’s making me a bit emo

I'm feeling the same, these new album makes me so emotional. I  grown with her and now 33 years old and being surprised and obsessed again!

I don't know if you noticed, but MJ fans are sooooo happy for Shadow of a man. They appreciated the homage and are fine with it + they love the song.

I was a little scared of their reactions, but they've been supportive and nice so far.

That’s why I can’t dislike this song, it’s so Brown Eyes coded and I love Brown Eyes, one of my favourites from The Fame. But, Blade Of Grass is my least favorite from Mayhem, not gonna lie, I skip it a lot. Between the two, I prefer Brown Eyes.

I still love the entire album though. I managed to get into The Beast too. It’s like something Bonnie Tyler could sing imo, but it wasn’t an easy listen at first specially because of the lyrics that, like Disease’s, are kinda obvious imo. But that’s okay to me now. Disease and The Beast are bops, when did I become a lyrics sommelier? lol

Tracks from 2 to 11 were love at first hearing (talking about the standard version).

The album is definitely a grower, I’m loving the groovy vibes of Killah, Zombieboy, Shadow Of A Man. The Beast is so Gaga, who else is going to make a song romanticising her werewolf lover and make it sensual af. Perfect Celebrity is the direction I thought the album would go, but I expected harder. Still waiting for Gaga’s nu metal moment. How Bad has grown on me a lot, the Yazoo sample is infectious.

I won’t lie, I wasn’t in love with the album the first few listens, but that tends to happen with me. I have to warm up. But NOW this album is… Up there with her best work imo. I’m living.
