LOL tea but they were songs that blew up without her help and she just sort of tapped in to acknowledge it. Plus bloody Mary’s context was totally changed bc of Wednesday. It went from religious to “spooky” lmao I think she’s done being genuinely controversial especially as religion goes. I mean, back in the day disease would have had the most insane button pushing video. The video we got is great and fantastic and gorgeous and still dark and cool but very distinctly not all that controversial compared to, say, Alejandro or Judas or even BTW

BM blew up because of Wednesday and I can bet you no one knew 1) that the song itself was actually called BM and 2) that it’s actually about Mary Magdalene. Like even when BTW came out the song had no backlash until she said what it was about. (Although in hindsight it’s clearly actually about haters and negative reception to her from back in the day, the song was legit the first song made for BTW before she had the album concept).

As for Judas it blew up because of Manga fan TikTok’s and didn’t use the name of the song (it was renamed to King With No Crown as an audio)

In my eyes the world is way more conservative now. If butthurt incells blame Gaga for ruining The Joker I don't know what kind of feast they will have if she mounts a cross, but let's see. I'm not religious so IDGAF, I wouldn't personally take offense.

I don't remember if it happened before or after Wednesday but I also remember the BM trend where they slowed down the prechorus and renamed the song "Kill the King" or "Kill the King Upon His Throne". Something like that.

God TikTok trends are stupid  but as long as people are having fun it's all good, I guess. They did the same thing to MJ's "Chicago" and "Heaven Can Wait"
