Trudeau Resigns As Canadas Prime Minister and Liberal Leader

Canadas Prime Minister is reportedly expected to resign on Monday after 9 years with the top job amid pressure to do so although there are no details at this time if he will remain as party leader until a new one is selected or if he will drop down imediately and select a temporary interm Prime Minister until next election or new party leader is decided

 

It is widely expected that next month a vote of non confidence by NDP will trigger an early election however a new Party Leader may give the NDP an excuse to be able to continue the coalition with less scruitiny potentially increasing odds Liberals will stay in power until end of the year

 

Update: The Resignation has been confirmed!!! However he will remain Prime Minister until a new leader is chosen by the Liberals

We yasss, but if he gets replaced by a right wing liberal that starts compromising with conservatives over the NDP - that’s an L for everyone 

I cant believe people actually think conservatives are going to fix affordability like they’re nothing more than sell outs - and keeping Canada poor makes their donors happy

The Conservatives are gonna win next election regardless and likely by Majority Government

 

It doesnt matter if the new leader "compromises" he isnt gonna be Prime Minister for more than a few months at most

Western governments have let their countries rot for far too long and now it’s going to take a lot more than a new government/party to fix things- regardless if it was a right-wing or centrist party that was in power. In economic terms, they are usually indistinguishable. Always anti-working class and always looking to “sweeten the deal” for their donor class.

I do think there's something fundamentally gone wrong since the 00s, probably since the 2008 financial crisis. We're due some sort of reset.

Though I think we'd have to make some solid concessions if we saw a wave of pro-working class parties run governments AND adopt pro-working class policies. Then again, I guess it depends what's considered working class. People living on the bread line or more broadly people who work?
