Exiled Syrian dictator Bashar al-Assad has reportedly survived a poisoning attempt in Moscow, where he has been under Vladimir Putin's protection since December 8, 2024.

According to the online account General SVR, allegedly managed by a former Russian spy, Assad, 59, fell seriously ill on Sunday, experiencing severe coughing and choking. Tests reportedly confirmed the presence of poison in his system.

He received medical treatment in his apartment, and his condition stabilized by Monday.

WTF? Who is trying to poison him though? It doesnt make sense for Putin to poison him.

His wife has a UK passport, so she is trying to enter to get cancer treatment, but they just denied her entry!

I think it's either radical Islamists or pro-Western proxies inside Russia (Russia has always been infiltrated by Western spies, ever since the fall of the Iron Curtain). :enigma:

Radical Islamists hate Assad for being a moderate 'heretical' Aawite who will mantain a claim to Syria as long as he lives, while the West would love to send the message that even Moscow is unsafe for Russian-aligned leaders.

Assad is not a moderate though, and radical Islamists hate him for discriminating against none Alawites, specially that none Alawites make 90% of the country.

The new Islamist government in Syria is not discriminating against Alawites, but im still suspicious of them, its a bit scary and mysterious.

Compared to some other options in Syria, he was moderate.

I think the new regime waits for the international attention to dissipate until they show their true colors and then people will miss Assad. :sue: (hopefully I am wrong)

I think you are missinformed about who Assad is! Out of all the dictators in the Middle East in recent times and historically, Assad is literally the worst alongside Saddam Hussein. Nobody would be missing him no matter who comes after him.

The new Syrian leader is not good, but he seems smart enough to move in the right political direction for practical seasons. They also are dependent on other countries to be able to exist and gain power, so they will be forced to modernize.

Putin is a petty old bitch and Assad really f‘d his „Investment“ up.. I wouldn’t be surprised if he’d fell out of a window any day now

Yep. Assad is useless to Putin now. The only value left is a staged assassination he can blame on someone for propaganda purposes.

There's already been rumours Assad is living under house arrest in Russia.

Russia is the reason Assad fell, as they refused his request for help because they are focused on Ukraine.

Russia can use Assad to negotiate with people who want him, thats what I expected to happen, but I guess they will kill him lol

oh he survived...

Yeah he escaped to Russia while tricking and lying to his own military! He told them Russia will send help tomorrow, and he will announce it through a televised speech, and requested his speech writer to write him a speech. He did not even tell his own family members about the escape, so his brother escaped to Iraq, and another family member was killed trying to escape to Lebanon! Such a coward!
