Many factors, but one of them might be that it's so old Gaga that some people don't even realise it's a brand new song.

It's not a good Single, not a mainstream sound, and not good enough out of the box sound and lyrics at all. It was not succesful in the past, it isn't now and it won't be in the future.

It's not compareable to Alejandro or Paparazzi, as somebody wrote already, they were still massive hits for this time, maybe you are blended by Millenium Hits Poker Face or Bad Romance here.

And finally, Disease was not impacted by DWAS success. Do you really think people stop listening to artist new released singles because they already still listen to older ones with better airplay? If a Song is good, you listen to it without any tactical or Charts performance thoughts, if not you don't. You should not forget that 99% of the buyers and streamers of music Songs are not in the gagadaily world and not into statistics, hypes or anything else you publish here.

Sit back and relax for single #2 and the Album. Will it be more successful? We don't know, but we will see...

Success =/= Quality...

Quality rating is different, depending on the genre of the song and the tastes of each ones... You might not like it, but many other ppl does, it has 100M streams on Spotify. If I gave explanations of why I love "Disease" it's not bc I made a small analysis of it to make it seem better but more bc I wanted to understand what please me the most abt this song. 

What do you think about "What the fox says" that made 1 Billions of views ? Is it still a funny song or just a cringe outdated song to you ? It's super subjective. 

Also ppl make marketing studies for a reason. Like, our society wouldn't be the same, capitalism wouldn't work anymore if there weren't ppl to promote stuffs.

The GP is basically the ppl who listen to what they hear at the radio and if a song doesn't have enough visibility or doesn't sounds similar to what's currently mainstream they will hardly appreciate it.

I would be sad if I had to listen only to what's popular, bc I found good niche stuffs.

I think I'm only one who appreciates Disease. It's just my taste in music and lyrics aren't bad. Most people definitely won't like because of heavy sounds. When she released Stupid Love or Perfect Illusion it wasn't best either and for me it's less liked songs. If Gaga released 1 single (if it's confirmed and real snippet) "Girlfriend" maybe definitely people would appreciate it more because it's lighter and rhythmic. My father when listened to Disease for first time was shocked. He said: "She really nailed it! But she probably won't go on radio. It's very heavy song." People need fairly simple pop songs, rhythmic and catchy.

I think a lot of you need to start giving Gaga more credit. She’s so much more than a Pop star or Pop icon now. She’s a Music Legend. Don’t delude yourselves in thinking that chart success and quality music has ever been in the same league. Sure there have been many amazing Pop hits over the years that are actually great songs, but overall Pop music in general is not particularly good music, and the GP’s typical taste is universally terrible, unadventurous and often only directed towards music that is designed for people who don’t really like music (NPC music). Its main objective is to sell. All the best music out there is and always will be niche, underground and outside the Pop scope. (Look at the likes of Björk, Arca, FKA Twigs, Radiohead, etc, for example. Their music is incredible and successful in it’s own field, but totally outside the Pop chart scope and most of the GP are sadly unaware of them or wouldn’t even dig their music anyway).

Disease has Pop elements yes but it is also very alternative, and hopefully the rest of LG7 will be to. Experimental, daring, provocative and imaginative, breaking away from the typical boring Pop conventions and fully "unapologetically Gaga". Isn’t that exactly what the main fan base has wanted her to do for years now? Go all out experimental? Obviously Gaga and Interscope are not so bothered about this albums commercial success. This time around it’s definitely more “music not the bling” and dedicated for the fans, and I for one am delighted about that. She’s already had immense success in the Pop world, and also proven herself with all the other styles of music she’s delved into. Not to mention they've already got their smash hit with DWAS.

It’s time to take Gaga out of the Pop star box and see her as the diverse musician she is, and stop worrying about chart success because by all sounds of it LG7 will be way above all that. Broaden your scope, keep an open mind and expect the unexpected.

 

Also, this is the first time in years where Gaga has actually branched out and worked with some seriously talented, cutting-edge musicians and producers, who all have excellent, exciting and alternative tastes! So if you don’t like the music, think it’s bad and think you know better, then that’s entirely on you alone.

It's the other way around for me. I'm also a fan from the start and as much as I love Joanne and Chromatica, there was something missing from those albums. Disease is the best she has done since TFM, Born This Way and ARTPOP. It's a song that takes me back to those years and she finally feels passionate about music again.

As much as I can't stand Azealia Banks, her post about Disease and artistry is probably why it didn't exactly click with users outside the core fanbase.

To put it shortly - Gaga isn't afraid to be "ugly" in her music and visuals and some people don't like that. Like, go see the reaction videos to the mv and you'll see what i mean.

Chromatica falls in the same category too me thinks @monketsharona

We can even say that Espresso overshadowed the whole album, the hype kinda died after 2-3 weeks and centered around Espresso and PPP once again. Taste kinda flopped despite the big promo, autoplay and playlists.
