Why didn’t ‘Disease’ click with the GP?

The Fame Monster

I think it’s due to a lack of promotion. These days, it feels like many people rely on TikTok trends to get excited about songs instead of actively seeking out music they genuinely like or enjoy. With so much music and promotion out there, anything that isn’t heavily promoted tends to get lost in the crowd.

But honestly? I don’t care if the general public hasn’t discovered it. Great music doesn’t need viral hype—it speaks for itself to those who are ready to listen.

In fact, I love that Gaga isn’t a mainstream, mass-consumed icon. There’s something special about music that isn’t engineered for everyone. It keeps her art authentic and Little Monsters passionate. Let the general public have their fleeting trends; I’ll take timeless artistry any day.

The song's quality is just averagely fine, and it's not helping since its sound was not "radio-friendly".

Sure, she shot the video, Tiktok, and the alt-versions. But let's be honest, besides Tiktok, it feels like the community's reception is pretty lukewarm.

Users here like the song a lot that for sure. Yet some thought the video should have gone darker, some like me think its details lack polish. Same with alt-versions, did alt-versions splash any discussion outside this community?

So the song is fine, the video is lukewarm, the alt-versions are basically fan-service, the released schedule clashed with the Christmas songs season, DWAS completely snatched the attention.

In this scenario, I don't think song like Disease can do well commercially.

But people said it's bubbling up so we'll see.

That type of promotion doesn't have the same effect like it used to.

Streaming and tiktok are the bug platforms tbh.

Yea its so effective that most people don't even know Gaga has a new song out :p

It's already very dark and quite unsettling tbh :poot:

I think people more likely want the video's colors toned down and having more colder textured outfits.

Just like Alejandro's video and her perfume commercial.

Bad timing. They really should’ve waited with the LG7 rollout until the new year. We had DWAS, Harlequin and Joker within the span of two months. By the time Disease came out people weren’t interested in another Gaga release. I feel like Feb would’ve been a perfect time to release it then another single and album in May.

There are many factors that play into it.

1) The huge momentum that DWAS has til this moment overshadowing her return to DarkGa.

2) The theme and sound of the song is not GP friendly. ( 'Bloody Mary' with a similar theme and sound wasn't that heavy as 'Disease' + it only got popular through the Series 'Wednesday' and it's connection to TikTok - something Gaga's team might have underestimated)

3) Lack of promotion - Had Gaga put more promotion such as tv performances and interviews into it, like Harlequin it would have performed better. Gaga is a visual Artist, TikTok videos, 2 live acoutic videos and a Music Video apparently ain't enough for her to get traction.

4) Too late for Halloween Hype. The Song and Video should have been released 1 or 2 weeks prior, to get the full "Halloween traction" for more push. Til most people knew of the Song and Video, everyone was already in Christmas mode.

It's because it wasn't promoted properly, I think Gaga's team thought that Joker 2 would be a big success... :messga:

If she released it during the BRAT summer moment, it would have been a hit. Cause if I'm not wrong, there's currently very few electro songs on the charts. :laughga:

It's a wasted hit. :hmm:

I'm here to take a break from university homeworks :/

Excuse me but  which songs smashing last year were with higher quality? :oprah:
we ve been knew that quality has nothing to do with succses

we can say its not so radio friendly like for example Espresso,

but saying is average quality is a joke.:iamfair:

The production of the song is so detailed and irs 10/10. And this has nothing to do if you like this kind of sound or not.

They waited too long and teased for too long + the GP got confused with Harlequin, Joker and DWAS. All the “comeback” attention went to all those three instead of her real comeback
