Forgive me for the meme-esque wording, but this is a consequence of capitalism. Everything and everyone are judged based on a monetary value and not just the worth of their character. It's honestly less aggravating and more sad... (not that it isn't angering, of course.)

Wow.

Its a ring dam it. Its symbol is what matters not the monetary value.

I bought a very beautiful big rock moissanite ring for my proposal for less than $400CAD (under $300USD).

She did not care about the value. Other than the symbolism she just liked that it was pretty and durable and thats what mattered to her

Putting pressure on ppl to buy super expensive rings with months of their salary makes no sense.

Also now a days its hard to go much above $4000 to $5000 unless its real Earth Diamond which is bad for the environment. $4000 will buy many carrots of lab diamonds so what more do they want?

Also koodos to Dua Lipa. Ive never liked Divas or cocky bastards. She always seemed among the less cocky, self conceited women in pop and seems to have kept a level of humility and down to earthness which I totally applaud. :applause:

People want to eat the rich until they start spending less money on ridiculous stuff. It doesn't matter how much money you make, $4,000 for a ring is a lot. Most of those fans are probably asking themselves how are they going to pay the bills next month.

I’m sorry but what is that :air:

maybe they discussed it and she wanted a small, simple ring that wouldn’t clash with other jewelry.

Or maybe they both find walking around with a ten pound rock on your hand to be cumbersome, a waste of money, and above all else, tacky as hell :icant:

oh how i hate what social media has been the past years. why do fans think they have a saying over their favourite celebrity's life, choices etc? when did it become normalized to speak like this for an engagement ring??? of a person you don't even know????

in any case, congrats to dua, real love is not measured in dollars, i'd marry a person with a tin-can ring if it was the love of my life
