Guest 142,381
Update: Liam Payne‘s friend Roger Nores and two workers at the CasaSur Palermo hotel had their charges fully dropped in the singer’s death investigation, a panel of judges from Argentina’s Court of Appeals announced in an extensive ruling. The judges ruled that Nores did not play a role in Payne “obtaining and consuming alcohol,” nor could have done anything to prevent Payne’s death in the hours leading up to it. “It is possible that, if he had stayed in his company at all times, [Payne] would not have obtained the drugs and alcohol in the quantities necessary for the state of intoxication he exhibited at the time of his death,” reads the ruling. “But it cannot be ruled out that, even if he had taken those extreme precautions… that [Payne] would have managed to obtain the substances anyway, as is common among addicts, even when they are under the loving care of their family.” The panel of judges explained that Nores’ “situation” is no different than his family’s responsibility in helping Payne with his addiction issues, as the judges referred to an Aug. 23, 2024, email from Nores to his father expressing his concern for Payne. “Despite accusing Nores of failing to communicate and raise alarms with the victim’s family, they remained silent about the email through which the accused had expressed his concerns and warned that he would not be able to look after Payne’s health,” reads the ruling. As for hotel workers Gilda Martin and Esteban Grassi, the judges wrote that there was not enough proof that they acted in “thoughtless, reckless, or merely negligent behavior” in their actions leading up to his death. Attorneys for Nores had pointed to the hotel workers’ decision to carry Payne — who some witnesses claimed, according to the ruling, was passed out — up to his room in the minutes before his death. The ruling essentially clears Nores, Grassi, and Martin, stating that the “formation of this case does not affect their good name and honor.” Ezequiel Pereyra and Braian Paiz — the two men accused of selling Payne drugs — will remain behind bars as they await trial. source ▆ ▆ ▆ Five people have been charged in connection with the death of One Direction singer Liam Payne in Argentina, local media report. The 31-year-old star died on 16 October after falling from the third-floor balcony of a hotel in Buenos Aires. Payne's manager as well as the manager of the hotel and its head of reception are charged with manslaughter in relation to Liam Payne's death. They face up to 5 years in prison if convicted. A hotel employee and a local waiter are accused of plying Payne with cocaine during his stay, and face up to 15 years in prison. The judge in her decision on Friday ordered them jailed ahead of their trial. • Hotel employee EDP is suspected of having sold Liam Payne cocaine on 15 and 16 October • Waiter BNP is also suspected of having sold cocaine to Liam Payne twice on 14 October • Payne's friend RLN is suspected of manslaughter for allegedly "failing to fulfil his duties of care, assistance and help" towards the singer after having "abandoned him to his luck knowing that he was incapable of fending for himself and knowing that he [Payne] suffered from multiple addictions" • Hotel Manager GAM is suspected of manslaughter for allegedly failing to stop Payne from being taken to his hotel room moments before his death. According to the court papers, given Payne's state, the room's balcony posed a "serious threat" and the manager should have ensured Payne was kept in a safe place until medical help arrived • Chief receptionist ERG is also suspected of manslaughter for allegedly asking three people to "drag" Payne, who could not stand up, to his room, instead of keeping him safe. bbc reuters Edited February 20 by Teletubby "You b*tch!" ~ Rat Boy 3 6
River 110,864
apart of supplying the drugs, which is against the law, I don't see why they are even charged for manslaughter? He wants the drugs, bought them and used them, mixed with alcohol, and just lost it. Unless he was pushed by one of them? This whole mystery around it by the police makes it look like a cover up to find someone to put the blame on. Come on and wrap that blade of grass around my hairy ass 6

I think I read somewhere, hotel employees were the ones who got him the drugs or something, I might be making this up tho. I hope this is not some money and fame influenced case where innocent people get jailed because of reckless decisions made by a third.

lastpopicon 12,884
lol, this only happening because he's rich and famous, if this was some random nobody would care. And it really bothers me, he was the one who asked people for "help", he's the ones who was addicted and he had a power position over those people, what are those people are supposed to do, say f*ck you and jeopardize tips and prob their job? That's not how things work in the real world, especially if you have bills to pay. He died and ruined people lives because of HIS decision, hope those poor people manage to get away from this. They are probably really pressured to do "whatever necessary" to keep celebrity guests happy. And tbh Liam probably had them stressed as hell his whole stay.

Yeah, some people don't understand the power dynamic in those situations. Ofc, if there's something more nefarious, it needs to be investigated but I really think this was just a very unfortunate accident. I mean they shouldn't be supplying him with drugs, that's not a normal part of business if you supply someone with drugs and they die, you're very much liable to get in trouble the same way bars can get in trouble for over-serving someone. I don't buy the "power dynamic" conversation, especially when the manager of the hotel is involved. they don't work for him, they're an independent business that prioritized selling drugs over their guests safety. side note - I really hate the online normalization of drugs, coke in particular, these days. it's not cute and it's ruined a hell of a lot of lives. that's how it works in the "real world", and not in cheeky pop songs Edited December 30, 2024 by altern8version

Liam decided to take drugs in his own conscience. He was also not paid or professionally trained to take care of him. He was just being helpful to him. 16 minutes ago, Peppa Pig said: Hotel Manager GAM is suspected of manslaughter for allegedly failing to stop Payne from being taken to his hotel room moments before his death. [face up to 5 years in prison] It's possible that Liam himself asked them to take to his room. If he did so, they just followed his orders. On a side note, no hotel employee would want a person under drug influence roaming in the hotel, so they might have wanted him to stay in his room. Sadly, they didn't know what was about to happen. 16 minutes ago, Peppa Pig said: Hotel employee EDP is suspected of having sold Liam Payne cocaine on 15 and 16 October [face up to 15 years in prison] • Waiter BNP is also suspected of having sold cocaine to Liam Payne twice on 14 October [face up to 15 years in prison] No excuse for them. This is a punishable offense and they should be charged for manslaughter. Edited December 30, 2024 by Chromanne

Now, if one of them actually had a business of selling hard drugs, ofc he should be penalized, but all 5? Many probably for just passing the drugs, that's sad, they were probably just doing their job and power dynamics def play a role I feel like. sidenote: Hard drugs are the worst, I have a very conservative stance, they ruin lives, ruin families, kill people and nothing good ever comes of it.
