Britney Jean is underrated and idc that she's like 30% of the vocals on the album 'cause she's 0% of the vocals at her concerts so who cares honestly:whitney:

Britney lip-syncing isn’t the big issue everyone makes it out to be. As a performer her main talent is as a dancer and (especially at her peak) the high complexity and energy of her choreography would be compromised if she has to take breath control for her vocals into consideration.

I mean the real issue is why she was lipsyncing these days rather than that she was.

But yeah I'm always 50/50 about lipsyncing. There's been shows where I wish they lipsync'd....

Lipsyncing is one of the things I hate the most about an artist. It limits how expressive and interactive they can be while performing.

It's one of the few things I criticize MJ for  not so much in the late 90s 'cause he had a lot of autoimmune issues and infections messing with his whole body but especially his larynx and lungs, but before and after that? He had the chops, he just didn't use them :grr:

Same with Britney 'cause she's very capable of singing live but just didn't :grr:

Yeah, after her knee injury her dancing was never the same.

With that being said, she came into the game as a professional dancer and her choreography, even from her last shows, is still not created with live vocals in consideration:

She is on the floor, constricting her ab muscles, bending, jumping and doing high kicks.

I just think, artists like Beyoncé and Gaga don’t do this because it would affect their singing too much so they compromise on both their dancing and singing to deliver the types of performances they deliver (and they are top tier performances don’t get me wrong). Adele doesn’t do any choreography because she doesn’t want to compromise her singing performance. Similarly I don’t see a problem with Britney lipsyncing so she doesn’t have to compromise on her dance performances. People go to the Opera, Ballet and Musical Theatre shows for different reasons ya know?

Britney might not be at her peak levels of performance, but neither are a lot of the older rock stars that they trot on stage to deliver vocal performances that (while better than the average layman) does not compete with their younger selves.

Like I say, I'm 50/50 on it. I generally would rather dancing got sacrificed for vocals or that they rely on backing singers for certain moments. Hell I even prefer the approach some take of just not singing a chorus to allow for a choreo focus like Troye Sivan did on tour this year.

Britney I give benefit of the doubt to as its not like she ever really had any say in the matter.

But there are certain acts that I don't care if they lipsync tbh lol I've seen the Vengaboys before and no one went to them for vocals 😂

Have I won the controversial Britney opinion thread yet? :fan:

I actually don’t mind it with MJ either, Michael was a great vocal talent with a unique voice for sure however he was also probably THE best dancer pop has ever seen and I don’t know if I’d want to see Michael bopping his shoulders up and down, waving his arms around and doing low kicks so that he could deliver choreography that was less physically demanding and technically difficult in order for him to deliver what would still be a compromised vocal performance.

I love Gaga and Beyoncé and think they are the best performers of our generation and even top performers of all time, they do both and it works - but when you are an Adele who came into this industry with strong vocal performances singing ballads (who, let’s be real, isn’t going to be a strong dancer anyway) or a Britney who came in blowing everyone away with these highly choreographed dance performances it’s like  okay do the thing that makes you great.

I’ll be honest.

Britney Jean > Glory

I'm not the biggest fan of tropical house.

The music video for Break The Ice is still amazing, even as an animated video.

Kill The Lights should've been a single. (In more recent years this has become very unpopular.)

The Femme Fatale tour should've started in September 2011 like Britney wanted.

Perfume should've been the lead single from Britney Jean. (Makes the whole "personal" theme fit better.)

Love Me Down should've been the lead single from Glory. (The song is literally everything that people and Britney herself love about her music.)

At the end of the day completely her choice, but I wish her memoir went more in depth with her biggest music things people want to know about. (Original Doll, Britney Jean vocals controversy, etc.)
