Also about Coachella, looks like she will do a full coachella this time. Like, with expensive productions, instead of simplistic ones that she does before, cos it was rushed  :nooo:

I CANNOT WAIT, BISH!! AHHHHH!!

Cohesiveness doesn’t equal all the songs being the same, it’s the songs forming a coherent piece when taken together

ARTPOP is very cohesive, you wouldn’t imagine You and I on it; but dope and jewels and drugs work well on it (not talking about the songs quality per se)

same for BTW, you wouldn’t imagine jewels and drugs or Dope on it; but you and I makes sense in it

finding cohesiveness in an album where a song has been inserted for business purposes is extremely difficult; even more so when the album is otherwise rooted in something specific and particular (Gaga albums are like this)

ARTPOP is not a cohesive album to me. It’s only called EDM bc that’s its most unique and consistent genre thanks to Zedd, but it’s quite literally all over the place and tbh it’s age that has made it non controversial. It’s only coherent trait is that it’s supposed to be messy and incoherent.

You and I barely fits on BTW too. It’s a country rock song on an industrial dance album with like a few industrial rock it can cling to. It very much feels like an after thought altho TEOG was always meant to close it.

All this talk about “I can’t imagine how it fits together” well a) we’ve heard only 2 songs and b) Gaga is repeatedly telling us the album will be chaotic and multi genre so let’s all cancel the “pure dark bawp” album expectations bc she’s telling it’s more than that and we already have 6-7 dark bops all but confirmed

Those who complain about this, you should have a totally deserved delayed album, even by 2 years. DWAS should be on LG7 and that's it. Disease is probably the beginning of LG7 that's how I feel. The rest of songs are different, but probably much pop songs. There were so many ballads on all the albums, still not enough for you :cyanlights:

We’ve already known for a bit that this album will not be cohesive. Yes, I wanted it to be cohesive for the critics sake but I got over it. But what disappoints me the most is that it’s simply a bad look. Tacking DWAS onto LG7 last minute no doubt reveals that there are fears behind the scenes that LG7 will underperform. It no doubt calls into question her artistic intentions for the album. Especially after Harlequin and Disease flopped, this creates the narrative that she’s floundering and in damage control rather than confidently standing behind her artistry for Disease (a critically acclaimed song) and her upcoming album.

Could you imagine if Billie added the Barbie song to HMHAS, and announced that before the album came out? It already puts in your head the idea that the album might not be so good on its own and needs some help.

She's been about the music not the bling A LOT this year, so I think it's ok a once off.

Forreal it's not as deep as y'all are making it. :huntyga:

My only hope is the other ballad she spoke about doesn't become another ARTPOP Act II...

Not y’all already creating ties to a song we have no idea about other than “it’s a ballad” and she might release it…

The meltdowns in this thread just because Gaga put her smash single on the album :laughga:

Guys it’s one song :max:  Maybe the rest of it will be dark pop largely or a mix of many genres, who cares? Die With A Smile is one of her best songs ever and LG7 will be an amazing record regardless.

It's just weird that this is what might represent the album and entire era in the long run.

I don't know how you got that they are celebrating it as a lead? Gaga doesn't call it the lead in the interview. And I don't think anyone on here is celebrating it as the lead, just people pointing out it will boost album numbers.

Also I don't see how you think they're saying it was "always the plan". When DWAS came out we didn't even have a confirmed release window for the first LG7 single. We know Gaga was recording at the start of the year.
All that Gaga said in this interview is that the song is "the missing piece" for her that tied the album together. We don't know what LG7 looks like yet, so we don't know if it fits cohesively or not. All we have are teases. And lets not forget that I Wanna Be With You/Dope & Princess Die were both made for ARTPOP which also includes Donatella & Swine. We should be used to varied sounds on Gaga releases lol

For all we know, Gaga may have well decided as she finalized LG7 plans this summer, maybe even as late as August/September when she first teased Disease was coming that Die With a Smile fit LG7's concept and tied it off neatly.

Or… the label and her team were surprised and disappointed with the performance of Disease, the lead single, and decided this was the smartest business move to ensure the album would do well in feb. I don’t like that artistically but not judging it numbers wise. I want her to be successful, which is obviously becoming harder as she gets older.

However, other artists have been made fun of here on this forum for doing the same thing. We can’t expect Gaga not to be now that she’s done it too. She’s being clowned and trolled for it rn on atrl, reddit and other forums. It’s not a big deal, but I think it has almost everything to do with how we as a fanbase treat other artists than Gaga herself.

Who said it was added last minute?
