Ariana Grande doesn’t see herself returning to music anytime soon

It doesn’t seem like we’ll be getting the pop star persona of Ariana Grande back anytime soon – here’s what she’s had to say about the future of her music career.

Grande, who released ‘Eternal Sunshine’ this year, has not toured since 2019’s ‘Sweetener’ stretch of shows. As it stands, 2025 will mark her sixth consecutive year without touring as she focuses on other projects.

Speaking to Variety afterwards, Grande clarified on the matter: “I feel so grateful to the acting, and I think my fans know that music and being on stage will always be a part of my life, but I don’t see it coming anytime soon. I think the next few years, hopefully we’ll be exploring different forms of art, and I think acting is feeling like home right now.”

Grande continued: “I am appreciative for [my fans’] understanding. I’m so grateful for the ways in which we’ve grown together over this whole journey with Wicked. But music will always be a part of my life.”

Acting has to be the easier and less stressful form of revenue. I’m sure the preparation for a movie is a lot of work but at the end of the day, they’re not traveling the world everyday and readjusting to a new schedule all of the time. They work hard for a few months to film and then they sit back while it’s edited. Most of the promo is pre filmed. I get it

After the terror attack on the Dangerous Woman tour I was honestly amazed she even finished the tour, and I do think beyond the One Love concert that the resumption of the tour was a label decision not hers. 
I don't think anyone decent would have blamed her for ending the tour & I don't think anyone decent would object if she said she wasn't prepared to tour again - even people who haven't had something traumatic at a show talk about how hard tour life is. 

I'm glad she's managed to refocus her career in a way that's fulfilling for her and significantly less demanding on her mental & physical health.

The parallels to Rihanna's career are starting to scare me. Rihanna's burst onto the scene and quick domination in the years 2005 - 2012 with SEVEN albums, then a pause that felt long-ish, then BAM she delivers ANTI in 2016, her best album and 9 years later it's still her most recent work.

Ariana: dominates pop from 2013/4 to 2020 with SIX albums, then a pause, then she delivered what for me is her absolute best record, Eternal sunshine is like a different category in terms of quality for me, and now this. I hope that by 2033 we'll at least have AG8 and 9.

It's probably also nice for her to work on a project where it isn't completely about HER. Her music career is directly fueled by her personal life. I can also imagine that it messes with your head when you have to market your own life, personality and appearance all the time. You're kinda forced to be self-absorbed as a popstar.

In that sense, acting can be a much more humbling and social experience because it's a big team effort. And instead of fueling your ego, you're all working towards a shared creative goal.

Guys, both her and Gaga are theatre kids, they studied acting since their very young age and it was a part of their music artistry. 

Now Ariana can embrace her acting career more freely, that's amazing. Like ok "Victorious" and "Sam and Cat" were great show, it makes us so nostalgious but I can't wait to see her in more serious movies like thrillers or drama movies. 

I hope we will get more movies both for Gaga and for Ariana.

Maybe this isn’t the right forum for this comment. No hate against Ari , but it’s wild the way Ariana has been accepted into the acting world with open arms and no hesitation , meanwhile for gaga it seems to always be a struggle. Even after winning and being nominated for many awards. It’s very strange and I honestly don’t understand why

I think the fact that Ariana has had her foot in the industry from the start while Gaga never had that advantage is what is held against her a lot for one
