BradleyCooper 2,079
Watched it twice in theaters and I don’t think I’ll revisit it on streaming. The performances are great but they couldn’t save the movie for me. Dull and depressing.

Panchecco 17,615
I think the movie only needed a few different writing choices and a bit more editing in some of the musical scenes and having them rearranged to make it flow better with the story points. It's not the fact that Arthur is revealed to not be the Joker to bother me but how we got there and how Lee manipulative side was not the main catalist for the whole movie to explode. The movie would have been much better if her becoming Harley Quinn would have matched with her becoming Arthur's attorney insted of him deciding to represent himself (the red suit look was perfect for this) so that she could have truly been the one pushing Arthur to accept his Joker self and showcasing her psychology degree in how truly manipulative she gets with the jury and the judge (also Gaga would have killed this scene). Arthur could find about some of Lee's lies at the trial when she gets exposed by Harvey Dent's defense and Arthur discovering the truth about Lee makes him have an episode at the trial that could be edited to seem like a musical when it is reality (The Joker scene where maybe he also attacks Lee telling her she's not real, and it's in here that Arthur has his "There is no Joker" speech). The bomb SHOULD have been set by Lee for her plan and they SHOULD have escaped together from the explosion. This is where Lee and Arthur fully live their Folie à Deux, she cuts her hair and Arthur can no longer separate Joker from himself. As the city falls and they're on the run Lee makes them return to the stairs and tells Arthur that they're going home. When Arthur realizes she is making him go back to his mother house has another episode and he re-lives his traumatic childhood and events from joker 1, and as Lee is still fully immersed in the fantasy he kills her right as they were getting arrested on the stairs. He then goes back to Arkham and gets killed by the "real" Joker. Edited December 18, 2024 by Panchecco
BornAsUnic0rn 2,070
It‘s an alright movie, nothing to write home about. It’s nothing great, nothing bad.. Todd didn’t like how the public received the first movie and how his Joker became a hero and symbol for the red pilled destructive manosphere. So he made the gamble to deliberately punch the fans of the first one in the face, and in general the film very obviously critiqued society and how the media works.. But it backfired more than anyone could have anticipated. The hate train was insane and completely blown out of proportion, but in a way he wanted a strong reaction.. I actually feel bad for Gaga, because she had literally NO blame for this. Since she was the big addition for Joker 2 and she is a singer, especially the musical aspect but also in general it being „bad“ was put on her by many people. I can’t say I wish she hadn’t taken the role.. Because from the first rumors about Joker 2 onwards… on paper the concept, the storyline and punchline sounded intriguing, bold & promising, so it makes total sense she signed on to it.
