Just A Holy Fool 2,656
Deputy Prime Minister & Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland announced Monday morning that she is resigning from Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's cabinet, hours before the federal government is expected to deliver the fall economic statement. "On Friday, you told me you no longer want me to serve as your Finance Minister and offered me another position in the Cabinet," Freeland wrote in a letter addressed to Trudeau that was posted on her social media account. "Upon reflection, I have concluded that the only honest and viable path is for me to resign from the Cabinet," Freeland added. Freeland was also harshly critical of PM Trudeau's response to the incoming Trump administration's threats on tariffs as well as Canada's reckless spending in the face of these external threats. This is huge news, and Trudeau's biggest test yet, she has been by his side since the day he became Prime Minister in 2015 and one of his biggest cheerleaders. https://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/finance-minister-chrystia-freeland-resigns-from-trudeau-s-cabinet-1.7411380

I don't remember ever seeing so much crap happening at once everywhere Politics is always messy. Political parties are just less talented these days so it's more obvious. They've lost the art of subterfuge and political intrigue and now just behave like reality tv stars. The gays know how to party

Just a few years ago Bill Morneau quit for simmilar reasons thinking the Government was spending too much money.
Economy 52,844
To add context the fall economic update is due just hours after she quit. She may not have wanted to sell an idea or path forward she was totally against

Economy 52,844
On topic, she seemed especially critical of the $250 checks and temporary tax holiday. She called them a political gimmick we cant afford. I also wanna add for those who dont know, this is not the first time a Finance Minister quit under Trudeau for simmilar reasons. No that long ago Bill Morneau quit saying they had a different vision and that he felt the Government was spending way too much

Too much uncertainty and we need to get serious negotiations going with the US and having a Government in power everyone knows wont be in power in a few months makes negotiations almost pointless. Crystia Freeland herself essentially openly acknowleged the Liberals are going to loose the next election. Id rather get election over with now so we can move on. Trudeaus refusal to do so kinda proves to me like most Politicians he cares about his own pride ans grip on power more than he cares about the citizens of Canada As a side note Im also saddned that all 3 major parties suck rn as far as im concerned and I dont like any of them
