According to a new report from Variety, the reimagining of Disney’s 1937 animated classic is coming with a whopping $240 million price tag for production alone, potentially making it one of the priciest live-action adaptations in Disney history when factoring in marketing and distribution.

The staggering budget puts Snow White in the same league as 2023’s The Little Mermaid, which also carried a reported $240 million budget. Despite decent box office returns of $569 million globally, The Little Mermaid fell short of the $600 million mark it would need to break even under Hollywood’s 2.5-times-budget rule. For Snow White, the stakes are even higher as it aims to reach a similar break-even point or risk becoming another costly gamble.

Filmed across Vancouver and Los Angeles, Snow White initially finished filming in July 2022 but extensive reshoots reportedly took place the following year.

When approving budgets, do they not look at the original and think of how ridiculous this is? $240 million for SNOW WHITE? Why on Earth does it need a budget that high?? Are they creating the whole ass castle and a real magic mirror? No wonder everything in Hollywood flops. I could do better budgeting than whoever is calling these shots.

With that big of a budget, I would have hoped for practical effects or puppetry. There’s something so charming about fantasy movies from the 90’s and earlier that didn’t use CGI.

I’ll still go watch it. Movies like this are visual overload and the trailer has some pretty scenes.

It’s such a trend to hate on these movies from the get go. The trailer has so many negative comments, like sweethearts you clicked on a link to bash on a movie you don’t plan on seeing by a studio you don’t have any stake in? Go back to watching a hyperactive YouTuber playing fortnight or some other brain rotting video.

Doesn't Wicked has two movies with less than that? :air:

Where the **** did all the money went? I'd be asking some serious questions if I worked at Disney Studios right now. :oprah:
