Her mother probably just wanna make sure the best are served to Miley.
But that kind of pressure is a lot for tweens like Miley was. And it shows, the way she escaped to drugs at a young age, and showing the problematic behaviour stereotypical to tv kids, what she was actually did was trying to call for help. 
I am just happy Miley went thru that alive. Cos some people ain't so lucky. So happy for Miley that she can now look back in retrospective way, and even make jokes about it, instead of being bitter and remorseful. I really love that for her.
