Bigbang Reunites at Mama!

After several scandals and hiccups, Bigbang came back as a 3-piece boyband stronger than ever.

If you don’t know who they are, they are the kings of Kpop who paved ways for acts like Blackpink and BTS, they are the idol of your idol. It is a big deal because this is the first time they performed on a televised event since their contract ended with YG Entertainment and the departure of T.O.P. and Seungri. People thought Bigbang ended with Seunri’s scandals, but G-Dragon, Taeyang and Daesung proved them wrong with a comeback.

The performance is also full of Easter Eggs! With GD’s birth year featured prominently to symbolise their rebirth, the two lines on the back of the dancers that symbolise the departed members, the high five between GD and Taeyang to complete what couldn’t be done in their 2014 performance, GD’s fashion choices with elements of T.O.P’s style etc. His acceptance speech also quoted previous live performance lyrics mocking Mama for giving everyone who attends awards, such king behavior.

I grew up with them and they are my childhood and this is awesome.

 

and there’s a connection with Gaga coz their 2012 Alive Tour was choreographed by Boomkack who gave us iconic choreography.

 

This performance has crazy energy and charisma and if they ever consider a non-English speaking act for the Super Bowl, this performance is definitely a preview of what it could be.

I miss T.OP. These guys are natural performers. It’s so effortless to them.

Back when you needed talent and presence to be an idol. I would go back to Kpop if they brought back musicianship and quality.
