I’ve always been of the thought that Gaga pays attention to charts and is hurt when her singles underperform - I’ve always chalked this up to why Perfect Illusion was only shortened on the JWT, we haven’t heard G.U.Y. since ARTPOP era, and Marry The Night since BTW. The most significant flop singles of her career, I’d say, in terms of how much time she invested in their success and why she does not want to revisit.

I mean, I'm sure she'd rather have her songs perform well than not  I think the issue is more so that some monsters pay too much attention to the charts. She can still care about the charts, but not let it dictate her art.
